assault charge that stemmed from
adomesticdispute, Edward Engle-
man punched and scuffled with
two police officers, tried to escape
from them and now faces felony

Lake Township chief John Mas-
loski was using his station to fin-

him for a preliminary hearing
before District magistrate James
Tupper.
“Masloski had removed Engle"
man's handcuffs and was finger-
printing him in the other room,
when I heard Masloski yell,”
Leedock said. “When I looked in,
Masloski was lying on the floor
and Engleman was on his way out
the door.”
Engleman ran towards the
woods behind the police station,
where Leedock tackled him. As he
doubled back toward Huntsville
Road after punching Leedock in
the chest, Masloski sprayed Engle-
man with pepper Mace.
“He got a face full of the stuff
and it didn't affect him at all,”

Patrolman William Norris did,
and arrested Greco and James
Barto for conspiracy to commit
bribery and bribery of a public
official.
Greco waived his right to a
preliminary hearing on both
charges June 9 before District
Magistrate James Tupper.
An additional charge of driving
under a suspended license was:
dropped when police ‘learned
Grecohad an occupational license
which allows him to drive to and
from work.
The bribery charges stemmed
from his arrest March 24, when
Norris arrested Greco for driving
while under the influence (DUIJ)
Greco's friend, Mike Barto, al-
legedly tried to get Norris and
police chief Jack Fowler to drop
the DUI charges by offering Norris
$500, taking candy to Fowler's
mother and telling the officers
“money is no object.”
Barto was bound over to
Luzerne County court after a
