Lehman has a new theme this year—Science and Technology. Popular

C. COREY BESTEDER
C. Corey “Code” Besteder, 81,
of Kunkle, Dallas Township died
June 11, 1995 at home.
Born in Centermoreland, he
was the son of the late Walter and
Ruby Schoonover Besteder. He
was a graduate of Dallas Borough
High School and had resided in
Kunkle for the past 56 years.
Prior to retiring, he was the
owner of the Exxon Service Sta-
tion at Kunkle Corners for 35
years. He had previously oper-
ated a feed mill in Kunkle.
. He was a Navy veteran of World
‘War II.
. He was a member of the Sweet
Valley Church of Christ. He also
was a life member of the Kunkle
Volunteer Fire Co., serving as
assistant fire chief for many years;
the Oneida Lodge Independent
Order of Odd Fellows, Dallas;
Daddow Isaacs American Legion
Post 672, Dallas; the Senior
Bowling and Golf League and the
former Vernon Baseball League.
He was preceded in death by
brothers, Kenneth and Floyd.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Florence Honeywell; sons,
Richard C., Valerico, Fla., a colo-
nel in the Air Force; Charles C.,
Harveys Lake; daughters, Karen
Stash, Kingston; Judy Kirkendall,
Dallas; brother, Karl, Centermore-
land; 11 grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services willbe 11 a.m.
Thursday from the Richard H.
Disque Funeral Home, 672 Me-
morial Highway, Dallas, with the
Rev. Gary DeSanto, pastor of the
Sweet Valley Church of Christ,
officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial
Shrine Park, Carverton.

Joseph A. Conaway, 56, of
Sheldon Street, Wilkes-Barre and
Harveys Lake, diedJune 10, 1995
in Wilkes-Barre General Hospi-
"Born in Norristown, he was the
son of the'late Paul R. and Emma
Louise Garber Conway.
He was a graduate of Get-
tysburg College and received his
master’s degree from Wilkes Uni-
versity, Wilkes-Barre.
He had been a lieutenant in the
U.S. Navy and had been a naval
aviator at St. Simon's Island,
Georgia and Newfoundland.
Prior to leaving his military
service, he was commander of the
Naval recruiting station in Wilkes-
Barre for several years.
He was a former resident of
Lehman Township and a member
of the Trinity Presbyterian Church,
Dallas.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Carol Wetzel, at home; daugh-
ters, Mrs. Troy Fleck, Holli-
daysburg; Mrs. Jeffrey Shotbolt,
Unionville, Ontario, Canada; three
grandchildren.
Interment, Maple Hill Ceme-
tery, Hanover Twp.
Memorial donations may be
made to the Heart Association of
Northeastern, Pennsylvania, Kirby
Health Center, 71 N. Franklin St.,
Wilkes-Barre, 18701.

Tunkhannock, died June 6, 1995
in the Tyler Memorial Hospital,
Tunkhannock.
Born in Centermoreland, she
was the daughter of the late Al-
bert and Edith Weaver Race.
She was a graduate of West
Pittston High School and received
a bachelor of science degree in
education from West Chester
College.
She was a member of the Order
of the Eastern Star Tunkhannock
Chapter No. 74 and was a mem-
ber of the Centermoreland United
Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of
62years, Glenn E.; several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-
nephews.
Interment, Fitch Cemetery,
Centermoreland.
Memorial donations may be
made to the Centermoreland
United Methodist Church.
DONALD RUDOLPH
Donald J. Rudolph, 86, of
Country Manor, Harveys Lake,
formerly of Horseheads, NY, died
June 11, 1995, in Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital.
Born in Lovelaceville, KY, he
was the son of the late Arthur and
Eva Cope Rudolph.
He lived in Horseheads before
moving to Country Manor two
months ago.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, the former Henrietta
Deater; brothers, Carl and Paul;
sisters, Maggie Burnette, Ola Pace,
Susie Rudolph and Mary Frizzell.
Surviving are sons, Donald A.,
Lakeland, FL; Jerry, Horseheads,
NY; daughter, Mrs. Dale Jorden,
Lakeland, FL; sisters, Imogene
McKinney, Ocala, FL; Edith Nilef,
Madison Heights, MI; Mamie
Rudolph, TN; five grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at
11 am. Wednesday from the
Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home,
corner of Routes 29 and 118 in
Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Rich-
ard. Wormer, . pastor of the
Tunkhannock Assembly of God
Church officiating.
Interment will be in Kocher
Cemetery, Ruggles.

Olen S. Wickham of Fairmount
Township, Luzerne County, died
June 6, 1995 at home.
Born in Lake Township, he was
the son of the late James and
Susan Oney Wickham.
He had been a resident of Fair-
mount Township for the past 40
years.
Before his retirement, he had
been a truck driver for the Ea-
gleston Truck Lines of Harveys
Lake.
He attended the Mooretown
Assembly of God Church in Moore-
town.
He was a life member of the
Disabled American Veterans and
was a member of the Anthracite
Post No. 283 Veterans of Foreign
Wars of Kingston.
He was preceded in death by a
son, Olen Wickham Jr.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Iris Gimbleson Millar; sons,
Paul L., Sioux City, Iowa; James
L. and Robert F., both of Wilkes-
Barre; Edward M., Pringle; David
S. and Dale M. at home; Daniel J.,
Benton; daughters, Elaine,
Martinsburg, W. Va; Peggy Ann
Guerra, Wapwallopen; Helen
Walch, Moorehead, Minn.; Norma

NOTICE
The Lake-Lehman School District hereby gives notice
that a Tentative Budget in the amount of funds that
will be required by the School District in its several
departments for the 1995-96 fiscal year is available
for public inspection at the Office of the Secretary in
the Administration Offices, Lehman-Jackson Ele-
mentary School, Lehman, Pennsylvania, between
the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through
Friday.
It is the intent of the Board of School Directors of the
Lake-Lehman School District to adopt this Tentative
Budget after making such revisions in it as are
deemed advisable and levy the proposed taxes at a
meeting of the Lake-Lehman Board of School Direc-
| tors to be announced at a later date, but no earlier
than June 26, 1995 and no later than June 30, 1995.
Notice is also given of the provisions of Act 138,
approved June 16, 1972, requiring every resident or
inhabitant of the District to notify the proper asses-
sor of this fact within twelve months thereafter.
Failure to comply with this requirement subjects the
individual to a penalty equal to the tax for which he
is liable.

Township, Lake Township, Lehman Township, Ross
Township and Harveys Lake Borough is Luzerne
County Assessors, Assessor's Office, Court House,
