8 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, April 26, 1995 First Lehman lip synch contest was a big hit By VALERIE WOLFE Student Correspondent The Lake-Lehman High School auditorium was filled with laugh- ter on April 10, as the first annual Lip Synch Contest kicked off. To open the program, Alison Milunic, Judy Sichler, Carrie Lle- wellyn, Beth Turner, April Hod- ick, Shannon Burke and Jen Sandstorm flung their bathrobes onto the floor and displayed spar- kling gowns. With the letters R-E- S-P-E-C-T posted on their “be- hinds", the girls comically lip synched to the song “Respect.” The show turned more mellow as Angie Letoski and Amanda Weber performed two songs from “Phantom of the Opera.” Dressed in mysterious black, Amamda wooed the audience with her portrayal of the Phantom. The duet displayed great talent in theatrical performance. Another highlight was per- formed by Robb Brown and Chuck Kindler. Both known to be funny characters, the audience was expecting a hilarious show. First, Tops in 7th grade Seventh grade students of the month at Lake-Lehman Middle Level Building were James Lyons, Carrie Houssock, Bryan Williams and Melissa Brady. The winners who stole the show were Ebin Walter, Kevin Whipple, and Dan DiGiovanni. With pillow stuffed bellies and dressed in suits, the three lip synched to “Moon River.” Peers roared as each opened their mouths wide and sang in an operatic style. Students enjoyed their peers entertaining them. Mr. Spo- nenburg, the vice-principal, summed it up nicely when he said, “It's great to see what tal- ents these students possess.” Robb and Chuck lip synched to the “Lion King” song “In the Jungle” while protruding their "heads through boards which had two “Lion King" characters painted on them. Then, jumping out from behind their costumes, the two started torap. Thinking that their performance was complete, the audience wildly clapped for the comic team. Surprising the audi- ence, the two came back and lip synched to the song, “If You Be My Bodyguard.” Presents research paper Dallas resident Jeffrey B. Students have studied American culture in class and in the American Literature Field Stud- ies Association, as a co-curricular club at the school. Sites and artifacts pictured in the Ameri- can Literature text book generated the focus for the students’ interest in visiting the museums and exploring the historic sites. Among the sites the students will study is Plimouth Plantation in historic Plymouth, Massa- chusetts, near Plymouth Rock. Here they will explore the living conditions of the Pilgrims as they established the early colony following their voyage on the Mayflower. This Living Museum will offer the students the opportunity to interview the historic characters, including William Bradford and Captain Christo- pher Jones about their lives, their journey and their expectations.
