The winners of the first two prize drawings this year are Dal- las resident Amanda Crane, age seven, and four year old Alora Russell of Noxen. Both Amanda and Alora reently received their bicycle helmets, reflectors, safety coloring books, pencils, rulers, and other good- ies. The idea for the bicycle safety Health Center promotes bike safety with prizes program came from JoAnn Maranki, a certified physician's assistant at the Monroe-Noxen Health Center who had attended a special training program earlier this year and arranged for the center to receive four children’s bicycle helmets as part of the promotion. Two other helmet giveaways will be held this year, one the first Friday in spring and one on the Friday before Memorial Day week- end. To be eligibile, children ages 4 to 12 who are patients at the Monroe-Noxen Health Center can complete an entry form available to them or their parents at the center. BMT seniors plan activities The monthly business meeting of the Back Mountain Senior Citi- zens Club was held recently. President Katyl reported on news and activities of Fosco, being the representative of the Back Mountain club. . Observing birthdays in Febru- ary are Helen Matlawski and Al- bert Ray. ‘High bowlers were Joseph Balavage, Ray Yuknavage, Louise Capozzi and Irene Katyl. Bowlers meet on Monday mornings 9:30 at Chacko’s West Bowling Lanes. Anyone interested is welcome to join the group. Fifty-fifty winners were Fran Sirochman and Kaye Ray. Installation of officers will take place March 2, at the monthly business meeting. On February 16, the group will meet at noon in Father Sammons Hall of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown, for a Valentine Day covered dish luncheon, followed by a “Surprise Bingo”. Members are asked to bring one wrapped item for this game. Place settings will be provided. On March 3, “World Day of Prayer” will be observed at the Dallas United Methodist Church. District governor visits The Dallas Lions Club recently hosted District 14W Governor Gilbert Gleco at a dinner meeting held at the Irem Temple Country Club. Governor Gleco chronicled the events of the annual Lions convention and stressed the important work the Lions Clubs perform in their communities. United Way seeks Rose Brader award nominees United Way of Wyoming Valley is currently accepting nomina- tions for the Rose Brader Com- munity Service Award, which honors an individual who has rendered outstanding volunteer service within our Wyoming Val- ley communities. The individual's community service activities could have been provided for a person, group or organization, and is not limited to the United Way of Wyoming Val- ley or its member agencies. A panel of volunteer judges representing various United Way committees will accept nomina- tions until February 24.
