Atty. James Lenahan Brown,
84, of Trucksville, died Jan. 11,
11995, at Nesbitt Memorial Hospi-
tal, following an illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was
* the son of the late attorney Frank
~ B. and Agnes Lenahan Brown.
He studied at Wilkes-Barre
. Academy and was a 1928 gradu-
» ate of Wyoming Seminary, King-
} join.
‘He was awarded an associate's
tddaree from Lafayette College,
ys : Easton, in 1932 and a law degree
« from Dickinson School of Law in
1935.
He served with the U.S. Army
“from 1942 to 19486, attaining the
“rank of captain, and was assigned
to Judge Advocate Generals Of-
fice.
He practiced law in Wilkes-
Barre in 1935 in the office of the
late attorney Charles B. Lenahan.
He was later a partner in the law
firm of Flood, Brown, Hourigan
and Farrell, and the law firm of
Flood, Brown, Farrell and Burns.
He was a member of the Ameri-
‘can Bar Association, Pennsylva-
nia Bar Associaton and Wilkes-
Barre Law and Library Associa-
tion.
He practiced law for more than
50 years and during that time he
served as solicitor for numerous
boards, municipalities and organi-
zations,
including the Luzerne
County Register of Wills. He also
‘was a special assistant to the
state Attorney General and served
‘as ‘the solicitor for the Luzerne
‘County Democratic Party.
He was a member of St. Ther-
ese's Church, Shavertown.
He was a member of Elks Lodge
109, Wilkes-Barre and American
Legion Home, Daddow-Isaacs Post
672, Dallas. He also was a Fourth
‘Degree member of the Knights of
Columbus and a member of the
Bishop William J. Hafey Assem-
bly, Council 302, Wilkes-Barre.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Irene Kearns Brown;
‘sister, Mary Elizabeth; brother,
George B.
Surviving are son, attorney J.
Lawrence Brown Jr., Shavertown;
daughters, Mrs. Craig (Karen)
Hensle, Virginia; Mrs. Richard
attorney Maureen Brown) Jor-
an; Chestnut Hill; Patrice L.
Dallas; seven grandchildren.
Interment, St. Mary's Ceme-
tery, Hanover Township.

John Edison Simon, 50, of
Wilkes-Barre, a homicide victim,
died Jan. 13, 1995, at his home.
Born in Dallas, he was a son of

He was educated in the Dallas
public school system.
He was formerly employed by
Nesbitt Estates, Dallas.

Modesto T. (Morris) Arcuri, 77,
of Jacksonville, Fla., a former
resident of Dallas, died Jan. 14,
1995, in Jacksonville, following a
lengthy illness.
Born in Capaldo, Kan., he re-
sided in the Jacksonville area for
nine years.
He was an Army Air Force vet-
eran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of St. Jo-
seph's Church, Jacksonville and
American Legion Post 1602.
Surviving are his wife, Mary G.,
children, Anna Marie Proctor;
Michelle Anne LaDuca and Mark
T., all of Atlanta, GA; Gary M.,
Jacksonville; six grandchildren.

JOHN HODGSON
John A. Hodgson of Claude
Street, Dallas, died Jan. 16, 1995
in the Department of Veterans
Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-
Barre.
Born in Plymouth, he was the
son of the late Emmanuel and
Charlotte Ward Hodgson.
He attended Plymouth Schools
and had lived in Dallas and
Trucksville, Kingston Township
for the past 31 years.
Prior to his retirement, he was
employed as a truck driver by the
Kingston Township Road Depart-
ment.
He was a member of Gate of
Heaven Church, where he served
as an usher.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II, serving in the Pa-
cific theater, and received the
Purple Heart.
He was a member of the An-
thracite Post 283 Veterans of
Foreign Wars in Kingston and the
Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Mary Kapuscinski; daugh-
ter, Diane Wojciechowski, Dallas;
two grandsons.
Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thurs-
day from the Richard H. Disque
Funeral Home, 672 Memorial
Highway, Dallas, with a Mass of
Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in
Gate of Heaven Church.
Interment will be in Our Lady
of Mount Carmel Church, Pikes
Creek.
Friends may call2to4 and 7 to
9 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to the
Bishop O'Reilly High School, 316
N. Maple Ave., Kingston, 18704.
AUGUSTA HOURIGAN
Augusta Hourigan of Dallas,
died Jan. 15, 1995,
in Nesbitt
Memorial Hospital, Kingston.
Born in Kingston, she was the
daughter of the late Charles B.D.
and Florence Augusta Newell
Wood.
She resided in Forty Fort for
many years before moving to
Dallas 20 years ago.
She was a graduate of Wilkes-
Barre Institute and Connecticut
College for Women.
She was employed for several
years in New York City banks.
She was a former member of
the Wyoming Valley Country Club,
Wilkes-Barre Junior League and
a former director of the Visiting
Nurses Association.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Luzerne County
President Judge Eobert J. Houri-
gan; brother, Senator T. Newell
Wood; sisters, Eleanor W. Hal-
bruner, Margaret E. Wood and
Mary Barnard.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs.
Charles (Molly) Malpass, Shaver-
town; Mrs. Jeff (Bonnie) Miller,
Alexandria,
VA; Mrs. Stephen
(Nancy) Wolinsky, Forty Fort; eight
grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Ruth
Post, Dallas.
Funeral willbe Wednesday from
the Metcalf and Shaver Funeral
Home, 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyo-
ming, with the Rev. Peter Krynes
of St. Therese's Church, Shaver-
town, officiating.
Entombment will be in Mount
Olivet Mausoleum, Carverton,
Kingston Township.
