Bridesmaids were Lisa Burak of Columbus, Ohio; Kim- berly Ertley of Dallas, sister of the bride; Linda Hatcher of Danbury, CT; Leigh Lawrence of Stamford, CT, and Donna Woods of Midland Park, NJ. Flower girls were Jane and Elizabeth Clements of Shavertown, nieces of the groom. John McCarthy of Shavertown, brother of the groom, served as best man. The Wyoming Semi- nary Lower School faculty hosted a shower at the Beaumont Inn, Dallas. The bride's kindergarten class held a surprise shower at the school. A Sunday brunch was given by Mrs. Peter Weaver at her home in Dal- las. The couple was honored at a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Parkhurst, Shavertown, and hosted by the Parkhursts, Miss Patricia McCarthy, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Clements, Mr. and Mrs. Henryk Strzeletz and Miss Caroline McCarthy. She is currently pursuing a master's degree at Bloomsburg University and is a kindergarten teacher at Woming Seminary Lower School, Forty Fort. Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and Susquehanna University. He is vice-president of Community Buick, Kingston. Seminary celebrates its 150th anniversary Wyoming Seminary will hold a black-tie gala celebrating its 150th anniversary September 23 at the Ramada Hotel in Wilkes-Barre. Andrea Sordoni of Dallas and Daylene Burnside of Shavertown are chairpersons for the celebra- tion, which will feature cocktails, dinner and dancing to the music of ‘Which Doctor.” Tickets are $75 per person, and are available from the Wyoming Seminary Alumni Office, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston. The gala kicks off a weekend of birthday celebration at the school, which enrolled its first class on September 25, 1844. September 25, an anniversary convocation will be held at 2 p.m. 2 in the Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston. Administered jointly by the Luzerne County Human Re- sources Development Department and the Luzerne County Interme- diate Unit 18, classes are con- ducted weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The program provides school dropouts who meet the economic guidelines with the opportunity to earn a GED certificate issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
