Butler, 82, of Ridge St., Shavertown, died Sept. 1, 1994 in - Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. ¢ , Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Richard and Mary ~ Logan Butler. . He attended St. Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre., + He was employed 33 years as a manager for Smith Corona Mechant Inc. and retired in 1992 from the Valley Office Supply Co. ' He was a former resident of ilkes-Barre and resided in Shav- ertown the past 50 years. He was a member of the Triple A Club and was a former Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 232, Shavertown, for 23 years. He received the All-time Honor Scout Award and the Silver Bea- ver Award from the Wyoming Valley Boy Scout Council. He was also recognized as an Outstanding Citizen by the Ro- ~ tary, Lions and Kiwanis Clubs, Dallas. He was a past president of the Wilkes-Barre Circle Eighters - Square Dance Club, and was a former gymnastic instructor for 23 years at the Wilkes-Barre YMCA. He was a member of St. Ther- ese's Church, Shavertown. He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Richard Jr. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Margaret Thomas, daughter, Sharon Luke, EssexJunction, VT; son, John F. Jr., Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; sister, Mary Schwartz, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial and interment were held at the con- - venience of the family. JOSEPH DELET-KANIC Joseph V. Delet-Kanic, 84, of Harveys Lake, died Sept. 1, 1994, at the Main Line Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Malvern, where he had been a patient forthe last seven months. ~ Born in Larksville, he was a son of the late Joseph V. and Mary Veronical Perash Delet-Kanic, Sr. He was an ordained Methodist minister and devoted his life to social and ministerial services, most recently at the State Correc- tional Institution, Dallas. He was a member of the Loy- alville United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Air Corps vet- eran of World War II. He retired from the Dept. of ‘Human Services in West Chester in 1975 and returned to Harveys Lake 16 years ago. He was preceded in death by brothers, William, Michael and Leonard; sister, Gertrude Forred. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Jarrath) Bradley, West Chester; brother, John Del-Kanic, Harveys Lake; Lawrence Delet- Kanic, Harveys Lake; sisters, Dorothy Maurer, Valley Forge; Jacqueline Tinsley, Cape Eliza- beth, Maine; grandchildren, Ja- son and Justin Bradley; eight nieces and 11 nephews. Born in Warrior Run, he a son of the late Joseph and Agnes McDonald Brislin. He was a graduate of Warrior Run High School and resided at Harveys Lake for the past 22 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and prior to his retirement was a civilian employee of the Army working as a sound editor. He was a member of the An- thracite Post 283 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kingston and American Legion Post 967, Har- veys Lake. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Burrows Brislin. Surviving are sons, John J., at home; James M. Edwardsville; Joseph P. III, Scranton; Robert L. Sweet Valley; sister, Marie Hite, Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; one great granddaughter.
