Employee-of-the-Quarter for April, May and June 1994. Don received numerous nomi- nation for this esteemed award. He was chosen for his dedicated commitment to the job, his con- cern for fellow employees, his outstanding and continuous contributions to the DuPont Safety Program and his leadership as OPM'’s United Way Chairperson and Red Cross Coordinator. He started at OPM on January 2, 1970 as a press assistant and soon became midnight shift press foreman. Don also worked in quality control and production. He was promoted to his current position of safety and health manager on May 1, 1984. A dedicated husband and fa- ther, Don is also active in his church and the Odd Fellows Or- ganization. Obituaries WILLIAM HOPKINS William T. Hopkins, 73, of Spring Garden Street, Trucksville, died Aug. 29, 1994 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William C. and Mary Alice Jones Hopkins. He was a 1939 graduate of Hanover High School and attended Wilkes College. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II and was employed as a plant engineer by Commonwealth Telephone Co. and by C-TEC Corp., retiring in 1986. He had resided in the Back Mountain since 1948 and was a member of the Trucksville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Independent Tele- phone Association, Chapter 1600. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Lois Sullivan , with whom he had celebrated his 50th anniver- sary on Feb. 11. Also surviving are sons, Ted. M., Trucksville; Navy Master Chief Petty Officer John L., Chesapeake, VA; Willliam C.,Lehman; David V. Bloomsburg; daughter, Betsy Hockenberry, iE sville; - grandchild; sister, Beverly Isberner, Visa, CA; brother William, Hanover Township; sev- eral nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with the Rev. W. He was a graduate of Dallas Borough High School and was a lifelong resident of Centermore- land. : He was owner and operator of a dairy farm. ALICE WILLIAMS Alice R. Williams, 87, of Pikes Creek, died Aug. 26, 1994, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Pikes Creek, she was a daughter of the late Milton L. and Ella Davis Ruggles. A 1925 graduate of Bloomsburg Normal School, Williams taught fourth grade at the Scotch Plains public schools for 19 years. She then returned to Pikes Creek where she and her late husband, Kenneth F. Williams took over the operation of the former M.L. Ruggles General Merchandise Store from 1946 to 1968. She was a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Pikes Creek. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Evadne M. Ruggles and Frances R. Trumbower. Surviving are several cousins. Interment, Maple Grove Cemtery, Pikes Creek. ELWOOD SWINGLE Elwood E. “Pink” Swingle, 84, of North Main Street, Shavertown, Kingston Township died Aug. 27, 1994, in Nesbitt Memorial Hospi- tal, Kingston. Born in Shavertown, he was the son of the late Ellis and Kate Holcomb Swingle. He was a lifelong resident of Shavertown, attended Kingston Township High School and East Stroudsburg Teachers College and received a master’s degree from Penn State University. He was employed as a science and history teacher for Kingston Township and later as a physical education and drivers education teacher in West Pittston, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Our Gang Bowling League, Dallas. He served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in the Back Mountain and as a trustee for the Evergreen Cemetery Association, Shaver- town. He was a member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church, where he was chairman of the History Committee and taught an adult Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lambert. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Mary Lou Boyes; sons, John W., Lehman; Maj. Thomas L. Fort Hood, Texas; Kenneth D. Mountainview, Calif; daughters, Catherine A. Berkey, Shavertown; Michele A. Butts, Plymouth, four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, in the Shaver- town United Methodist Church, North Pioneer Ave., Shavertown, with the Rev. James A. Wert and the Rev. Harriet Santos, pastors officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Shavertown. Stull, 94, of Dallas, founder of Stull Brothers and Northeastern Auto Parts, King- ston, died Aug. 25, 1994, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Courtdale, he was a son of the late Samuel L. and Anna J. Williams Stull. He was educated in the Courtdale public school system. He and his brother, William were co-founders of Stull Broth- ers, Kingston and managed the business until 1978. He was founder and manager of Northeastern Auto Parts, King- ston. : He was active in the Free and Accepted Masons and the Shrin- ers.
