DOVE Post Staff More new traffic patterns are ahead for Back Mountain motor: . ists. Traffic on the four-lane high- way between Pioneer Ave/Harris Hill Road and Center Street in Kingston Township has been narrowed to ore lane in each di- rection since road construction started in early April. Starting this week, the north- bound driving lane will be closed, withlarge orange barrels guiding all -northbound vehicles into the passing lane, according to con- struction supervisor Jeff Miller. Southbound traffic will be con- fined to the southbound driving lane, with the passing lane used as a left-turn lane for both direc- tions, Miller said. When construction is finished around the end of August, the highway will be widened to five lanes. “So far the drivers have been very cooperative in merging lanes and keeping traffic moving,” Miller said. “It makes our work easier.” Miller expects work inthe north- bound driving lane to be finished within a month. Upgrading the concrete center islands, paving and paint striping Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30 - 11:30 AM or 7 - 8 PM should be completed by the end of August, depending on weather conditions, he said. When the $2.5 million highway improvement project is finished, Routes 309 between Hillside and Upper Demunds/Hildebrant roads and Route 415 between routes 309 and 118 will have an entirely new look, with upgraded intersec- tions and new traffic signals. Until construction in Kingston Township is finished, police rec- ommend that drivers use Eighth Street, Bunker Hill Road and Ply- mouth Mountain as alternate routes to Wyoming Valley. Get ready!
