Sponsored by the North- east Pennsylvnia Philharmonic, the “event features a standard flower show, commercial exhib- its, demonstrations, lectures and classes and a garden market. The show is open to the public from. 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 3 .m. on Sunday. Tickets are $6 for: adults and $3 for children uhder 12. Health plan expanded The change in eligibility guide- @cs: for the BlueCHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) of Pennsylvania program announced recently by Governor Robert Casey will, allow Pennsylvania's four Caring Foundations to insure thousands of uninsured children. The four Caring Foundations, affiliated with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans in Pennsylva- nia, administer the program as @bB!ucCHIP in different regions throughout the state. .sThe Children’s Health Insur- ance Program was created by the Governor and Legislature in 1992 and is funded through a desig- nated portion of the cigarette tax. ..The Caring Foundations iden- tify, qualify and enroll eligible children and on their behalf pur- chase insurance coverage from Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Since May, 1993, the Caring Foundations have received more than 40,000 applications from children seeking coverage; over 13,000 children who met the state’ s eligibility guidelines were enrolled. Nearly 1,000 of the total enrolled are children residing in northeastern Pennsylvania. The change in guidelines will allow children through age 13 with family incomes below 185% of the @rederal Poverty Level (e.g. $27,380 for a family of four) to qualify. . Children must also be a resi- dent of Pennsylvania for more than 30. days and not be covered by private insurance or eligible for Medical Assistance. ~ The revised guidelines will become effective April 1, 1994. .. The design, special exhibit and commercial floral exhibit titles - have been taken from Gershwin compositions featured in the film Rhapsody in Blue, the story of American composer George Ger- shwin's life. The Back Mountain Bloomers Garden Club graciously acknowledges the contributions of the Gershwin family to this presentation. Division I - Horticulture fea- tures 82 different classes such as orchids, bulbs, perennials and horticulture for juniors. The design division has 17 classes with such titles as Ain't Necessar- ily So (Underwater Design), Do It Again (Parallel Design) and I Got Rhythm (Junior Design.)
