British folk trio to appear at Chicory House The British folk trio Poor Old Horse, a trio of veteran performers dedicated to the proposition that folk music should be enjoyed, not enshrined, will appear at the Chicory House in Wilkes- Barre, Friday, April 15 at 8 p.m. As Poor Old Horse, Jones, Givney and Wood have taken for their collective name the title of a sea shantey commemorating an old British seafraring tradition: “paying off the dead horse.” The nonprofit, volunteer-operated Chicory House, holds its coffeehouse concerts in the Community Room of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, South Franklin Street across from Boscov's, in downtown Wilkes-Barre. Doors will open for the concert at 7:30 p.m. Ad- mission is $7 at the door. Table and other seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis only.
