2 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, January 19, 1994 No one hurt when fire destroys home at lake The home of Andy Roan, Jr., Pole 170, Harveys Lake was heav- ily damaged by a fire January 13, according to Harveys Lake fire chief Frank Lutinski. The fire had been reported by Roan's daughter, who smelled smoke in one of the rooms and escaped with the family dog. By the time that firefighters arrived at the home shortly after 3:30 p.m., flames were coming out of the windows, Lutinski said. indicated that the cause was accidental electrical, possibly from an outlet, Lutinski said. Lakeside Drive was closed for several hours while firefighters ran hoses across the road into the lake for a water supply. No injuries were reported, Lutinski said. Harveys Lake Fire Company was assisted at the scene by the Kunkle, Idetown and Shavertown fire companies. A preliminary investigation Municipal notes LAKE-LEHMAN SCHOOL BOARD Superintendent Dr. Nancy Davis announced that before and after- school day care at the Ross Township school has been discontinued due to low participation. The program will continue at the Lake-Noxen and Lehman-Jackson schools. Newly-appointed board member Karen Whipple abstained from voting on all motions on the advice of solicitor Peter Savage, due to a problem with her late filing of a financial statement required of all board members. Also at its regular January 11 meeting, the school board voted to: e Appoint Jean Purcell and Jonathan Pineno to organize the elemen- tary chorus concert, elementary substitute teacher Kim Socash, tennis coach Cathy Edwards, girls’ soccer co-coaches Jan Elston and Dave Elston and custodial substitutes John Kubasti and Joyce A. Wolfe. e Approve the district's special education plan through 1997. Negotiating team member Jeff Fritzen reoprted that negotiations for the teachers’ contract have begun. The present contract expires in June, 1994. KINGSTON TOWNSHIP The supervisors gave prizes of savings bonds in the annual Holiday House contest to Barbara Prebola, first prize of $100; Joseph Kaleta, second prize of $75 and Mr. and Mrs. Andy Ruddy, third prize of $50. Announced that the winter parking ordinance prohibiting parking on the streets from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. will be in effect until March 31. Also at their regular January 12 meeting, the supervisors voted to: e Authorize township manager Jeff Box to order a 1994 marked police cruiser through a state volume purchasing plan. Box noted that the township has budgeted $16,000 for the car. Pass a resolution protesting National Utilities’ proposed 68 percent rate increase request for the Midway Manor Water Company. e Authorize Box to begin revising the township map with the Community Map Co. of Pottstown, at no cost to the township. » Send township officials to the State Township Supervisors Associa- tion conference, with William Tippett as the voting delegate. by Grace R.
