VNA honors staff members for service _ Several Back Mountain resi- dents were among 32 VNA staff members honored recently at the local Visiting Nurse Association's 11th annual employee recogni- tion dinner at the Woodlands Inn and Resort. Those VNA employ- es honored included retirin gstafl members and employees celebrat- ing their 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th year anniversaries. All employees with five or more years of service were guests of the home care agency. # L4 & a & LaMere Fiorini of Trucksville, who is retiring after 18 years of being a visiting nurse, was hon- ored with an engraved pewter plate. Home Health Aide Carol Klemish ofHunlock Creek received a pin noting her 20th anniversary of service to the VNA and its pa- tients. Presented with a 15 year pin was staff nurse Alice Westfield of Dallas. Quality Assurance Manger Pat McCue of Dallas re- ceived a 10 year pin. Receiving five year service pins were two Employees Honored for service Collge Misercordia recently honored seven employees for their years of service at the 14th annual Service Awards Dinner. Dr. Carol Jobe, Misericordia president, presented each employee with a special award based on the years of service to College Misericordia. Giovanelli earns special Air Force spot Airwoman Christina Gio- vanelli, daughter of James and Donna Fowler of Shavertown, PA and Gene Giovanelli of Laflin PA, has been selected to work for the 30th Air Refueling Wing Com- mander as the Information Man- agement Specialist. She was se- lected over other candidates for this prestigious position. She will be responsible for correspondence preparation, re- view and dispatch for the major Air Force refueling wing in the northeastern United States. The 30th Air Refueling Wing is re- sponsible for all aerial refueling missions between the United States, Europe, and Africa. They have been involved in such im- portant military operations as Desert Shield /Desert Storm, and more recently, Operation Restore Hope. Prior to her section for this position, Giovanelli worked in the 380th communications squadron where she competed for and won the Enlisted Apprentice Informa- tion Manager of the Quarter for January-March 1993. This award is given to those individuals who have proven their efficiency and expertise within the administra- tive career field. Only one person may win this award during each quarter. Giovanelliwon this award during her first quarter on the base, an outstanding achieve- ment. She will compete for the Enlisted Apprentice Information Manager of the Year as a result of winning the quarterly award. She is a 1992 graduate of Dallas High School. She has accumulated 18 credits towards an Associates of Applied Science degree in busi- ness administration through the Community College of the Air Force. Her future plans include continuing her education and retraining in the medical field with an emphasis on nursing. The homestead will be festively deco- rated, and the men and women of two Civil War reenactment groups, the 81st Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, Company K and the 1st Pennsylvania Light Artillery, Bat- tery G, will be on hand in period costume to recreate Christmas in the Civil War era.
