Grossman completes leader course Dallas resident Howard J. Grossman has successfully com- pleted a course in Leadership at the Leadership and Management Program sponsored by the Appa- lachian Regional Commission, October 24-28 in Roanoke, Vir- ginia. Grossman, Executive Director of the Economic Development vania, was awarded a certificate for his participation in the course. Along with some 500 other participants from throughout the Apalachian Region, Grossman heard Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder speak on Tues- day, Oct. 26, on the importance of new management techniques to the small business and public and private service agencies of Appalachia. Courses were conducted by faculty from the University of Virgiania, Virginia Tech, the Uni- versity of Tennessee and the Center for Creative Leadership. The immediate goal of the train- ing program is to help executives and managers improve the qual- ity of their products and services. The long-range goal is to strengthen the capacity of Appa- lachian communities to compete in the new global economy.
