NOV. 13, MEATLOAF DINNER, Mime David Parker signs way mto kids' hearts Follow the “signs” to family fun. David Parker, known as “The Pied Piper of Sign,” is the feature of the Wyoming Seminary Lower School Parents’ Association Fall Cultural Event on Friday, Nov. 12. Nation- ally recognized as one of America’s more versatile family entertainers, David shows audiences find that learning sign language is almost child’s play, especially when the lesson includes a healthy dose of music, dance and just plain fun. Since 1977, David Parker has been captivating audiences with his lively combination of music and sign lan- guage, mime and humor, all per- formed to the beat of pop songs. His broad grin and inimitable style have won the hearts of young and old alike across the United States and Canada. When we watch live performance, we take a lot for granted. A former social worker, David teaches sign language at schools and colleges across the country, as well as to drama, education and hearing groups. He is as much an entertainer asheisateacher of sign language. In 1977 he formed Breakthrough, a troupe that introduces people to the beauty of sign language in an enter- taining way. The Fall Cultural Event is the Lower School Parents’ Assocation’s only fundraiser. Proceeds benefit Wyoming Seminary Lower School.
