RJ a) The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, August 18, 1993 7: Two area artists to exhibit their work August 22-28 Two local artists, Sue Hand and Leigh Pawling, have been painting ouside on location throughout the Back Mountain and Wyoming Valley as well as in their Dallas studio in preparation for their art exhibit of recent works. The exhibit, entitled “Through 2 Different Eyes Part II,” will be on display August 22 through Au- gust 28 at Sue Hand's Imagery, Dallas. The paintings and drawings were all completed by the two women this past spring and summer. They include local land- scapes, skyscapes, scenes from the Maine coast, figure studies, florals, and still lifes of fruits and vegetables. The works have been completed in graphite, ink, water- color, oil, alkyd and mixed media. Hand, a nationally recognized artist has had her artworks in- cluded in public and private art collections in nearly every state in ‘the nation as well as nine foreign countries. She has been teaching fine art drawing and painting for the past 35 years and is founder of the national miniaturist group, Cider Painters of America and the outdoor painting organization, Pennsylvania En Plein Air Soci- ety. She is represented by several galleries in Maine as well as Hil- ton Head Island. Pawling, a graduate of Witten- berg University, Ohio is presently studying figure painting at the New York Art Students League where she also works as a class monitor. Prior to her New York studies she spent a year painting in Florence, Italy. Pawling is represented by several galleries in the Cayman Islands. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 7- 9 p.m. at Sue Hand's Imagery, Dallas. Additional exhibit hours will be held August 22-28. The hours are Sunday, 1-4 p.m; Monday and Wednesday, 9-3 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 9-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Back Mountain senior club announces August events The monthly business meeting of the Back Mountain Senior Citi- zen Club, under the direction of Project Head was held August 5, at St. Therese’'s Church Hall, Shavertown. The meeting was brought to order by Irene Katyl, president, who opened with a prayer poem, followed by the Pledge of Alle- giance. Katyl called on the following to submit reports: Sophie Kapral, recording secretary; Joseph Bal- trushes, treasurer; Kay Hudak, sunshine. In the absence of Ethel Baltrushes, membership chair- person, the report was given by Irene Katyl. Members observing birthdays during the month of August are Ray and Marie Yuknavage, Ann Strucko, Ethel Baltrushes, Clara Paltrinieri, Frank Petro and Mary Brezinski. Winner of the birthday table centerpiece was Marie Yuknavage. ‘Members voted to send amone- tary donation to Project Head to be sent to the flood victims of the midwest. King's College to hold grad school info night August 23 King’s College will hold a “Graduate Program Information Night” on Monday, August 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Postupak Room in The William G. McGowan School of Business on the corner of West Union and North River Streets. Available to answer questions and provide information on King's graduate programs will be Dr. David Leahigh, director of the M.S. in finance and accounting pro- grams, and Barry Williams, direc- tor of the M.S. in taxation pro- gram. King's offered its first graduate program, an M.S. degree in fi- nance in the fall of 1991 and added M.S. degrees in accounting and taxation last fall. All of the programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. All three of the 30-credit pro- grams have the same foundation courses and are offered in the evening.
