Many attend Irem Temple Potentate's Ball A picture-perfect evening with gentle breezes under the Pavilion at Irem Temple Country Club set the tone for this year's Potentate’s Ball honoring Illustrius Sir, Ken- neth E. Burkel, potentate of Irem Temple, and his Lady Laura. The annual event was attended by more than 400 Shriners and their guests. This year’s theme, An Evening In Venice, was reflected by an entry bridge and a gondola in the pavilion. Guests enjoyed a hospitality time on the Sun Porch prior to the dinner dance. The Irem String Band entertained the gathering during the cocktail hour. A family-style dinner was fea- tured in the main dining room with Potentate Burkel welcoming guests for the evening's festivi- ties. Members of the Irem Divan responded with a toast to Illustri- ous Sir Kenneth Burkel and his Lady, Laura. Following dinner, the assem- bly moved through the balmy summer night air to the Pavilion where party-goers danced to the strains of the J. Sable Big Band.
