The Harveys Lake Borough ~. council heard complaints from «residents about two bars located .+.in the complex housing the Bud *.> Light Amphitheater at its July 20 + -meeting. .*.*.* Waving copies of two recent ‘.advertisments in a local daily Bar and Coop, Sandra Serhan -.- Perez asked the council, “What -*. are we doing to ourselves and our _-. community?” «..+ Advertising Friday night enter- ..tainment, the July 14 ad read, “It's a co-ed bash! Of the seven .‘.people on the committee, only three are active, Giordano said. “We need help. We have 20 percent of the members doing 80 percent of the work,” said com- ‘mittee chairman David Abod. Councilman Richard Boice said that five or six volunteers from the municipal authority would bring a backhoe and containers to help the EVAC with its large appliance cleanup day. In other business, the council voted to: * Retain Attorney Ralph Kates to represent the borough in pos- sible pending litigation in federal court. Council members and bor- ough solicitor Charles McCormack refused further comment on the case. e Adopted an ordinance allow- ing the D.C. Roberts Fire Com- ° pany to provide fire protection and emergency services to the borough, with councilmen Wil- liam Wilson and Edward Kelly abstaining. Council explained that the ordinance is necessary for liability insurance and workmen's compensation purposes. DOVE Post Staff I feel cheated. Having read ads for two con- secutive Wednesdays in the Citi- zens’ Voicefor “Topless Bartender ~ Night” at Chicky’s Sports Bar and - Coop at Harveys Lake, I decided .to check it out. i.'. Needless tosay, Ididn't do what «".the July 14 ad had suggested: “Joinyour friends and get naked!” “- Pm a little too old for that stuff. ~."." And since I swore off the sauce -+in 1986, I couldn't even try the ‘+ drink special, “Sex on the Lake.” “+ But about those topless bar- tenders..... After work . Friday night, I headed my faithful Bronco out to Chicky's, located in front of the Bud Light Amphitheater, in the former arcade building of what _ was once Hanson's amusement park. ! Two rather scruffy characters + left the bar as I pulled into the + parking lot. : “Uh-oh,” I thought. “Another - one of my famous bad moves.” Not to worry. Ha Bo Go Be +3 3% = & & Other than tworatheraestheti- cally pleasing young male bar- tenders, I was the only one there. “Where are the topless bartend- ers?” I asked them “That's us,” they smiled. “That's cheating. Your're wear- ing shirts,” I objected. The nice young bartenders pointed out that their shirts were actually tank tops. “If girls come in, they wear bikini tops,” they said. I didn't care about girls in bi- kini tops. I wanted to see topless male bartenders. And as for the “Sex on the Lake” drink special, a lethal-sounding concoction of four different fla- vored liquors. and two kinds of of fruit juice, the nice bartenders: told me that there are several drinks of this type, with names in somewhat questionable taste. “It's just a harmless prank,” said the handsome bartender with the dark pony tail. “It’s really dead around here unless there's a concert. The ad was intended to draw in business.” Obviously it didn't. - To Harveys Lake subscribers "A bag containing some Harveys Lake copies of last week's issue of «The Dallas Post apparently was lost in production or distribution. DOVE Post Staff Dallas Township police are investigating two incidents of vandalism at Dallas public schools, which were reported July 13. According to police chief Carl Miers, three Tandy computers, three computer monitors and three computer keyboards, with a total value or $4,350, were re- moved from the Dallas Elemen- tary School sometime between the evening of July 12 and the morn- ing of July 13. Although police didn't find any signs of forced entry into the build- ing, Miers said that a door on the school's southeast side was found locked but not closed all the way. Personnel working in the build- ing had checked all doors and windows before they left work July 12, Miers said. In a second incident, two win- dows at the Dallas Middle School were reported broken Tuesday, July 18. Miers said that a can of soda was thrown through a window on the building's east side, while a rock was thrown against a win- dow on the school's west side. No damage estimates are avail- able, Miers said. Police request that anyone with any information on the two inci- "dents call the Dallas Township * police at 675-5251.
