It's summer Shakespeare at its finest! Plan also to attend a special free | Shakespeare Symposium on Tuesday, July 13 at 7 p.m. in Merrick Hall, College Misericordia. A trio of local Shakespeare scholars will engage the audience in a lively discussion of the play, its characters and its language. Call the Theatre Box Office at 674-6719 There will be bushels of books Many visitors to the auction will automatically head for Mrs. Crump’s Book Booth, decorated with a neatly lettered wooden sign, as they have for the past 46 years. Offering a great variety of books to suit a wide range of reading interests, Mrs. Crump’'s Book Booth is named for the dedicated woman who supervised it until last year, when health problems sidelined her at age 97. But Mrs. Florence Crump'’s spirit lives on in the staff whom she trained and inspired: co-chairmen Benedicta “Benny” Matchett, Anne Aston and Jeff Matus. “We still consider Mrs. Crump to be the chairman. We're just co-chairmen,” Mrs. Matchett said. “Her inspiration, hard work and dedication are traditions which we want to continue.” Benny, Anne and Jeff have been hard at work all year sorting, cataloging and pricing the books in preparation for the four days of the auction. Jeff is a newcomer to Mrs. Crump'’s Book Booth this year. A steady book booth customer for the past five years, he became interested in its operation after last year’s auction, when he helped carry everything inside and clean up. As usual, the book booth has many very nice books which have been donated to the library especially for the sale since last summer — everything from fiction to “how- to” books, kids’stories and the ever-popular coffee table books. Everything is priced to fit the reader's budget. : POST PHOTO/GRACE R. DOVE MRS. CRUMP’S BOOK BOOTH - Co- chairmen for Mrs. Crump’s Book Booth are Anne Aston and Benedicta Matchett.
