The “God, and Me” Award, involving participation with the parents, was presented to Chris and Kevin Arnaud, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley J. The “God and Church” Award went to Kim Hogans, daughter of Mrs. Michelle Swingle. This award, given to a student in seventh, eighth or ninth grades, involves making something to be used in the church. Kim crafted ribbon book marks to mark significant places in the hymnals used on Sundays. For the first time in the Shaver- town Church, the “God and Life" Award was given and presented to Heather Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Adams. Mrs. Mary Lou Swingle, formerly Institutional Representative of the church's Scouting Program, made the presentations. Follwoing the serv- ice, a reception was held by the congregation to honor the young people and their parents. Rev. Harriet Santos and Rev. James A. Wert are co-pastors of the congregation. ‘Williams joins Marine exercise in Japan Marine Cpl. Peter J. Williams, son of Walter T. and Carole A. Williams of Cedar Ave., Shavertown, recently participated with 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C. in exercise Forest Light at Camp Takada, Japan. The training was conducted in conjunction with units from the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force. The exercise was conducted in order to improve the capabilities of these units in cold weather operations.
