LCCC to host Challenge Walk/Run Race Luzerne County Community College Second Annual Presidential Challenge Walk/Race will be held Saturday, May 8 on the college's main campus in Nanticoke. The fey mile walk will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the five-mile run at 10 a Pre-registered walkers and runners s will receive complementary T- shirts and will be eligible to win a special raffle. Those registering on race day will receive T-shirts on a first come, first served basis. An award will be presented to the overall winner, as well as to the winners in each age group. Age group for men and women include under 13, 13-19, 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Pro- ceeds will benefit the college's computer lab for employee and commu- nity training. The Northeast Region Office will con- tinue to offer, to the public, a specially selected packet of seed- lings and a wildlife food plot seed packet. The packet of seedlings will contain three each of the follow- ing species: Norway Spruce, White Pine, Bittersweet, Japanese Flow- ering Crabapple, Callery Pear and five each of Mugo Pine. Each packet will sell for $2. An informa- tion leaflet will be included de- scribing the seedlings, instruc- tions for planting, and care of seedlings. Game Commission officials will also be offering for sale, wildlife food plot seed packets. This packet consists of a 10 pound mixture of assorted seeds which are recom- mended for wildlife food. The mixture includes Grain Sorghum, Proso Millet, Buckwheat and Sunflower. Each packet will plant one third to one half acre of a wildlife food plot. Brochures will be available explaining planting instructions. Each packet will sell for $3. This program is being offered to benefit wildlife and good soi. conservation. Hunters, as well as non-hunters, are encouraged to become involved. The supply of packets, both seed and seedlings, is limited and will be sold on a first come basis.
