Six teams are entered and more than 100 boys have regis- tered for practice. The season will open June 8. According to John Roberts, president of Lehman Township Volunteer Fire Co., Lester B. Squier, principal of Lehman- Jackson Joint Schools will head the ninth annual Back Mountain Horse Show, July 4 to be held on the Lehman-Jackson High School grounds. Hearings on an increase in rates for Back Mountain patrons of Commonwealth Telephone Co. discontinued'March 10 are in full- swing again at Luzerne County Court House. Increase of $1-$2 per month were announced as taking effect January 11, 1953. One of almost 200 bands they won a first place in the World's Largest Firemen's Parade and first prize in field show. Senior Girl Scout Troop 660 recently sold their 10,280th hoa- gie in their money raising project to sponsor a trip to Switzerland. The girls accompanied by four adults will leave Kennedy Airport, N.Y. August 11 and fly to Geneva then travel by bus and train to Adelboden, site of the Girl Scout Chalet. Dallas Mounts baseball nine, downed St. John's, 8-4. Lake-Lehman cindermen picked up their second win of the season by defeating Bishop Hoban, 101-49. After a delicious lunch, the program was presented by Mrs. Linda Stallone of Dallas. The Reverend Robert Murdock presented the invoca- tion; Floral centerpieces were donated by Lewith and Freeman realtors; Book door prizes gift of Jack Wise Interiors and Dallas Cleaners. Mrs. Stallone is a writer, for- mer teacher and business woman in the field of communication, she worked in senior management in the corporate sector as well as in higher education. She is the mother of three and resides in Dallas. She is the author of The Flood That Came to Grandma's House, a book for children. She is also the co-author with her hus- band, James Stallone, Ph.D., of Club officers? May is the month when most service clubs are electing new officers. We wonder if perhaps this photo was the presidents of the Dallas Senior Womens Club before it disbanded? Can you ID these ladies and tell us about this photo? Town Meeting for the people of | the Back Mountain On Your Own: Independence for Ages 18-100 which was the sub- ject of her program. Linda proved to be a delightful presenter as she introduced us to the various chapters of the book; including ‘growing up at any age’; ‘building blocks and stumbling blocks’; ‘rolling out or rolling up the welcome mat’; ‘a hard line on the bottom line’; handling diffi- cult situations’; ‘adulthood and the expansion of awareness’; and ‘quick starts to independence’. A few closing statements in con- cluding the program were ‘Accept yourself as you are right now’ and ‘Take the gamble or risk to let go and be yourself with yourself and others’. It was a beautiful after- noon and we thank Beth Rosen- thal, chairman of the luncheon and all our “Friends”.
