Plantation home brings $301,500 bid Mrs. Paul Lumia of Dallas will be the new owner of Orchard Knob Farm, the estate on West Center Hill Road in Dallas. Mrs. Lumia's bid of $301,500 was the highest of eight submit- ted, and was above the minimum set for the sale, according to Jim Gallagher, the trust officer for First Eastern Bank who handled the sale. Last week's photo feature about the estate failed to mention the second owners of the distinctive home property. Dorothy Wilkinson called The Post to tell us about her family's ownership of the plantation style home from the late 1930's until 1949, when it was sold to Wallace and Kathryn Wakefield. Unfortu- nately, her call came after last week's issue had gone to press. Ms. Wilkinson said she, her brother Donald and sister Shirley grew up in the stately mansion, which was owned by their par- ents, Donald Earl and Dorothy I. Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson was founder of the Don Wilkinson Agency and served at State Rep- resentative from the 6th Legisla- tive District. Dorothy Wilkinson said her family loved the home and main- tained it fastidiously. She recalled many grand parties hosted by her parents at the estate, and hours of fun at play with her siblings in and around the many rooms and hallways in the 7,000+ square foot home. “fairgrounds.
