DOVE Post Staff Many young women dream of being voted their high school's homecoming queen. ' For Joy Kline of Harveys Lake, that dream has been realized - and has unexpectedly led to greater honors. Joy was recently notified that she is among the top ten percent of all high school homecoming queens in Pennsylvania to be se- lected to compete for the Pennsyl- vania title March 27-28 at the Hershey Convention Center. The Pennsylvania queen will represent the state at the national finals in July at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California. .* Being selected as the 1992 Lake- Lehman homecoming queen was easy, compared to what Joy will face during the selection proc- $s, where contestants will be JE dged "6f" poiS€T and maturity uring an evening gown show and hour-long interview. “I'm very excited, and very nervous, especially about the interview,” she said. “That's what I'm preparing hardest for right now." Joy said that she was very surprised when she first received an application form from Amer- ica's Homecoming Queen, Inc. When she asked Lake-Lehman High School principal John Oliver whether or not she should return the completed form, he suggested that she at least try. “I never thought that I'd be selected as a finalist!” she said. In order to finance her trip to Hershey, Joy had to raise $250 through business and commu- nity sponsors; the $400 that they contributed will enable her par- ents to stay at Hershey with her. “I appreciate the generosity of everyone who took the time to sponsor me,” Joy said. After graduation in June, Joy plans to either attend beauty school or study early childhood development or ‘special education at'college. She has many varied interests: bowling, dancing, fam- ily and the outdoors. 3 Spring 30 Coupon } Dallas ROBO Car Wash | i k 461 Memorial Highway, Dallas i 1 Save $2.00 i : { 4 ROBO Washes for only $10 i I With Coupon * Exp. 4/31/93 i h I Attendant on duty 8:00 - 5:30 Daily : Need a Fundraising Idea?
