(Dallas Borough council reorganizes only during even- numbered years.) * Dallas Township: president: Phil Walters, vice-president: Frank Wagner, secretary-treasurer: Glenn Howell. «Jackson Township: chairman: Joseph Stager, vice-chairman: Andrew Kasko, secretary- treasurer: Henry Zbiek. Supervisor Walter Glogowski was not assigned an office. ¢ Kingston Township: chairman: Daniel Wisnieski, vice chairman: Don Gavigan, secretary- treasurer: Jeff Box. Other supervisors are Ben Franklin, William Tippett and Herbert Hill. * Lehman Township: chairman: Douglas Ide, vice-chairman David Sutton, secretary: Jon Rogers, treasurer: Alvin Cragle, police commissioner: Ray Iwanowski. Information from Franklin Township and Harveys Lake was not available. More arrests upcoming in Dallas Borough car thefts By GRACE R. DOVE Post Staff Dallas Borough police have broken up a car theft ring which stole 11 cars in the borough be- tween late September and Novem- ber, 1992. According to police chief Jack Fowler, four juveniles and one ddult, Jason Bealla, 20, of Dallas, have already been arrested and prosecuted. Bealla is currently lodged in the Luzerne County Jail on other charges, Fowler said. Police expect to arrest five more juveniles in the case. “In each instance, the car's owner left the keys inside the vehicle,” Fowler said. “We can't emphasize enough the importance of drivers locking their cars and taking their keys with them when parking a car - even if it's in your own driveway or garage.” Police report State Representatives get full salary/benefit package By GRACE R. DOVE Post Staff According to material furnished by the Bipartisan Management Committee, Pennsylvania law allows a state representative these benefits, expenses and reimbursements: Benefits: e Yearly salary: $47,000 (A session year runs from December 1 through November 30. e Health insurance: Blue Cross/ Blue Shield/Major Medical with dental and vision care, prescription drug reimbursement. ° Retirement: each representative contributes 6.25 percent of his or her yearly salary. e Life insurance: $40,000 group term policy, disability and accidental death insurance. Expenses: Car allowance: up to $650 per month to lease an American- manufactured car. * Mileage: reimbursed only for trips to and from Harrisburg. Each representative works out the formula individually because some would rather deduct the total amount from their income taxes; the average figure is 22.5¢ per mile. * Housing allowance: $88 per day while in Harrisburg for meals and lodging. e District office expenses: up to $800 per month torent a district office and its furniture, pay for utilities and purchase supplies. (The state provides representatives’ offices in Harrisburg.) Representatives’ staff members are on the House of Representatives payroll. Reimbursements made annually by the House Chief Clerk, after the representative provides sufficient documentation. e Home office expenses: the representative will be reimbursed up to $10,000 per year for expenses associated with operating a district office and not covered by district offfice expenses. » Postage: $2,000 per year. e Accountable expenses: $10;000 per year for other expenses, including travel expenses not associated with House sessions, insurance for leased vehicle and additional postage. If a representative does not lease a car, he or she may be reimbursed for mileage on their personal vehicles at 22.5¢ per mile. The number of days that representatives spend in session varies from year to year. Kingston Twp. POST OFFICE VEHICLE HITS STONE WALL «According to Kingston Township police, a U.S. Postal Service ve- hicle operated by Alan McDonald, 24, of Dallas, was involved in a one-vehicle accident on South Lehigh Street Saturday, January 2, shortly after 4 p.m. Police said that McDonald lost control of the vehicle as he was rounding a curve traveling south near the Westmore- land School. The vehicle scraped along approximately 10 feet of a stone wall on the southbound side of the roadway, then crossed the road and struck a stone wall on the northbound side, police said. The vehicle sustained moderate dam- age and was towed from the scene. | Patrolman Frank Ziegler inves- tigated the accident. ¥ a MAN CHARGED WITH DISORDERLY CONDUCT ' According to Kingston Township police, Gary Kevin Frantz, 36, of RR 1 Dallas was arrested Friday evening, January 1, and charged with disorderly conduct and creat- ing a disturbance after he caused disturbances at the Kandle-Lite Lounge and the Checkerboard Inn, both on Carverton Road in Trucksville. .
