Miss Montgomery is a graduate of Dallas High School and earned associate degrees in applied science at McCann School of Business and Luzerne County Community College. She is employed at Commonwealth Telephone Company. Mr. Luke is a graduate of Dallas High School and is employed at John T. Luke and Son, Inc. A September 1993 wedding is planned at the Trucksville United Methodist Church, Trucksville. CAROL ANN MONTGMERY AND DANIEL ROBERT LUKE Carol Ann Montgomery to wed Daniel R. Luke Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Montgomery of Trucksville announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Carolyn Ann to Daniel Robert Luke, son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Master Gunnery Sergeant Jack L. Givens will retire after serving 34 years with the Marine Corps. He will retire onJanuary 1, 1993. MGY Jack L. Givens joined the Marine Corps Reserve while attending Luzerne High School in his Junior year, April 23, 1955. At that time the U.S. Marine Reserve Center was on the corner of 1st and Sharp St. in Wyoming. He left the reserves and joined the regulars on June 28, 1956, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune N.C. He served in Lebanon in 1958 and wasdischargedJune 12, 1959. He rejoined the Marine Corps Reserve in 1960 and from 1960 to 1987 Sgt. Givens was a member of the Wyoming Valley Marines. Positions held: he was platoon commander for the Engineers and then acting 1st Sgt. for the Wyoming Valley Marines. He joined the I.M.A. Det. Reserve Support Unit, at Camp Lejeune N.C. in February 1987 and served there as Logistics Chief and acting Sgt. Maj. until Sept. 1, 1992. His personal decorations include The Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal with four bronze stars, National Defense Medal with one Rinehimer, Valeski are top 4-H'ers Melissa Valeski of the Showin’ Blue Horse Club and Tammy Rinehimer of the Hobbie 4-H Club recently received the Luzerne County Outstanding 4-H'er of the Year Award given by Penn State Cooperative Extension of Luzerne County. Nominees must be between the ages of 13 and 19 and currently enrolled in 4-H. They must have shown leadership in at least three county, regional and/or state 4-H activities within the prioror current 4-H year. Within their own club they must have shown leadership, participated in activities and proven self worthy of being nominated for the highest county 4-H award. As club President, Melissa Valeski assisted members in filling out 4-H forms and organized Showin Blue's Easter Egg Hunt. She chaired her club's exhibit committee for the Luzerne County Fair and has helped other young 4- H'ers show at horse events. Also club president Tammy Rinehimer from Hobbie Community Club has been a leader and teacher in the 4-H Babysitting project, and also assisted with coordinating activities for an elderly home for several years.
