Dallas Middle School holds Veterans' Day program | The Dallas Middle School social studies classes recently held an essay contest entitled “I'm Proud to be an American.” A winning essay was selected from each grade level. The winners each received a savings bond and proudly read their essay during the Veteran's Day assembly program. The sixth grade winner was Mellisa Shaver. JillObuhosky represented seventh grade and Heather Wilt was the eighth grade winner. Speakers for the assembly represented the Daddow-Isaac American Legion Post and the erp earn limo rol armed forces. Walter Galka, commander of Daddow-Isaac, presented the awards and spoke on the topic of the winning essays. Mike Neil, a senior at Dallas High School, told the students about the Army early entry program and about his experiences in the service. The program contained a moment of silence while taps was played. The sixth grade, under the direction of Anthony Chiarucciand Mrs. Cathy Wega, presented a patriotic poem which honored veterans from every era. The Lake-Noxen PTA recently completed their annual fundraiser. The PTA and the Haney Fundraising Co. treated the top sellers in each grade with a Richie Rich Limo Ride to McDonald's, Shaver- town for lunch. Mrs. Joyce Birt is Fundraiser Chairman.
