The cold fall weather did not deter the many spectators who came to the game early to see the queen crowned after the Homecoming Parade, led by the junior high cheerleaders, which featured a float made by each high school class. Seven classic cars, including a white late1960’s Chevy Impala, a candy-apple red and white late 1960's Corvette and a dark green early 1970's Sting Ray, carried the members of the Homecoming Court in the parade around the track. Bundled up in blankets and heavy coats, spectators sipped hot drinks as they watched a colorful pre-game show with an “Arabian Nights” theme by the Lake-Lehman High School band and silks. Several younger band members, dwarfed by their large Sousaphones and drum sets, could be seen counting their steps and cadences in the band’s intricate maneuvers. ry The portable high-intensity Katie Bennett was crowned Dallas Homecoming Queen Saturday, October 17, by last year's queen, Dallas Homecoming Queen lights rented by the Booster Club Tammj Landon.
