4 Dallas Baptist Church will cele-
 brate its 23rd anniversary Sep-
HE tember 20 at the 11 a.m. service.
| Past; present and future will be the
theme. A covered dish lunch will

"The Dallas Baptist Church be-
| gan ‘in 1966 with vacation Bible
school led by summer missionar-
ies. The chapter was constituted
|. September 14, 1969. Ground-
breaking for the present building
iq was held in May of 1981. South
Baptists from several states helped
ji build: the’ building, along with its
own congregation.
The church now has a chapel in
Meshoppen and a Russian chapel
in Wilkes-Barre. Bible study for
the homebound beganin 1983 and
continues today. The church has a
nursery for bed babies and tod-
dlers, Bible study for all ages,
morning and evening Sunday
worship, and a children’s worship.
Youth fellowship and adult fel-
lowship are held once a month or
more frequently. For more infor-

celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on September18. They
were married in St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, by the late
Their attendants were Ann Marie Woolbert, the late Joseph
Woychick, Jr., James Farrell and the late John Brislin.
Mrs. Woychick is the former Margaret Farrell, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Farrell, Shavertown. Mr. Woychick is
. Joseph Woychick, Sr., of Wilkes-
Barre. He is a retired public accountaint.
The couple are the parents of four children: Margaret Ann, de-
ceased; Kathryn Ann Dobias, Turnersville, N.J.; John Jr., Bar-
tonsville; and Louis, Shavertown. They also have seven grandchil-
dren: Jeffrey, David and Kristen Dobias; John III, Heather and
Sarah Woychick; and Jenna Woychick. -
Their children honored their parents with an anniversary cele-
bration. The event took place at their son's Shavertown home with
over 70 friends and relatives in attendance. Music was provided by

Once again, the Dallas Middle
School announces the implemen-
tation of the “Homework Hotline”
for the 1992-93 school year.
Listed below are all pertinent
telephone numbers that may be
called by middle school parents
and students after 3 p.m. daily.
Individuals who call will reach a
recorded message regarding daily
assignments, upcoming tests and
projects, due dates, etc. Also listed
is an activities number that will
furnish information on academic,
athletic and social events that are
on the middle school calendar.
Parents may use the hotline to
monitor daily homework comple-
tion or in case of absenteeism. The
Hotline began operation on Mon-

Slocum graduates from Misericordia
Susie Slocum, daughter of
Charlotte and Ernest Slocum of
Dallas, graduated from College
Misericordia in August.
Slocum was awarded a bache-
lor of science degree in occupa-

Dr. Carpenter Attends
Seminar on Orthodontics
Dr. Charles M. Carpenter,
D.M.D., F.A.G.D., of Forty Fort,
a member of Dental Associates,
recently participated in a week-
end seminar entitled “Straight
Wire Orthodontics Update.” It
was held in Dallas, Texas, and
conducted by the American
Orthodontic Society, Inc., a
national non-profit educational
organization located in Dallas.
The course included fourteen
hours of lectures to provide
advanced principles of the
Straight Wire Technique, a mod-
ern, clinically proven method of
straightening teeth. Clinician
for the course was Dr. Robert
Gerety, a nationally known
instructor. The course informa-
tion and case studies are
designed to enable professional
practitioners to improve diagno-
sis and treatment of dental pro-
blems of patients requiring orthodontic treatment. The society’s 2,000
members are primarily general dentists and pediatric dentists who
also offer orthodontics in their practices.
Dr. Carpenter is a graduate of King’s College, and received a D.M.D.
degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972. He served as a
Lieutenant Colonel with the 300th Field Hospital, U.S. Army Reserves,
