| Police reports § Dallas Borough - REAR-END ACCIDENT ON ROUTE 415 JE According to Dallas Borough police, a 1987 Ford Tempo driven by ~ April Ann Walizer, 15, of Wilkes-Barre and a 1985 Ford Escort driven by Robert Leonard, 48, of West Wyoming, were involved in a rear-end accident Saturday, August 22, on Route 415 near Mill Street. Police said that both vehicles, traveling northbound, had stopped for traffic. Walizer stated to police that her foot accidentally slipped off the brake pedal and her car ran into the rear end of the Leonard vehicle. Both vehicles sustained light damage, police said. + Patrolman William Norris investigated the accident. &5 Kon eg ~ CAR AND TRUCK COLLIDE AT 309 AND 415 According to Dallas Borough police, a 1970 Chevrolet truck driven i py Warren R. Long, 41, of RR 1 Sweet Valley, was involved in an accident with a 1983 Renault Alliance driven by Gilbert T. Dutton, 58, of RR 5 | Tunkhannock Thursday afternoon, August 20, at the intersection of ~ Routes 309 and 415. Police said that the Long vehicle atempted to turn left from Route 415 south onto Route 309 north when it collided with the Dutton vehicle, traveling north on Route 415. Dutton stated to police that he applied his brakes but was unable to avoid impact with thé Long vehicle. + Patrolman William Norris investigated the accident. DRIVER CITED IN ACCIDENT AT 309 AND 415 According to Dallas Borough police, a 1984 Mercury Topaz driven by | David Joseph Rynzer, 36, of RR 3 Harveys Lake was involved in an | accident with a 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Ferman W. ~ Wesley, 61, of Luzerne Monday, August 17, shortly before midnight. Rynzer stated to police that he drove through a red light at the intersection of Routes 309 and 415 while traveling north on Route 415, striking the Wesley vehicle in the left side, according to the report. | Rynzer was cited for careless driving and driving through a red light, | police said. Amico, 39, of Wyoming, were involved in an accident near | the intersection of Routes 309 and 415 Monday, August 17, shortly | after 8 p.m. § Police said that the Ross vehicle, traveling north on the Route 309 | exitramp at the Route 415 intersection, struck the Solensky vehicle in | the rear end, pushing it forward and to the side of the highway. After | the initial impact, the Ross vehicle swerved to the left, striking the | Amico vehicle on the driver's side quarter panel, crossing the highway | and coming to rest in the parking lot of the Dallas Shopping Center, police said. © “Ross left his vehicle and left the scene of the accident, walking | through the Dallas Shopping Center, where police apprehended him, ~ police said. Police cited Ross for driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while his operator's license is suspended and driving without car insurance. He was also charged with driving while under the influence | and operating a vehicle with a forged or stolen inspection sticker after | a police records check determined that the sticker had been issued to | a’1991 GMC owned by Dallas Township, police said. Larry Dauksis of Elmcrest, Dallas, died Sunday at Scranton Com- munity Medical Center after he was involved in a one motorcycle fie accident on the Huntsville-Idetown Road, Sunday, August 16, at about 3 p.m. Police were unable to determine whether or not Dauksis was wearing | a’helmet at the time of the accident. &x 18 The accident was investigated by Ptl. Marlene Powell, of Fedor Road, Hunlock Creek, reported that on ugust 15 at about 11 p.m., a mailbox and newspaper tube were stolen rom the front of her home. + Powell also reported that her house was egged and an attempt was ade to remove a security sign. KTwp. residents reminded of dog rules The Kingston Township Zoning Officer reminds all residents of the Township who owns or keeps a dog that they should prevent the dog from running at large and should prevent the dog from causing damage to private or public property. Owners of dogs who are in violation of the Township Ordinance are subject to a fine. Police report Kingston Township CHARGED WITH DRUNKEN DRIVING Joseph J. Malarkey, 22, of Marcy Road, Pittston, was charged with drunken driving on Carverton Road August 21, police said. Malarkey was stopped at about 2:22 a.m. by Ptl. Charles Rauschkolb. According to Police Chief Paul Sabol, 50 drunken driving arrests have been made so far this year. 3 VEHICLE ACCIDENT AFTER BRAKE FAILURE Three vehicles were involved in an accident August 21 after a driver reported that the brakes in his pickup truck didn’t work properly, police said. John R. Mieze, 45, of Pittston, told police that he was driving north on Route 309 at about 5 p.m. when he saw traffic stopped for the traffic signal at the Carverton Road intersection. Mieze said that he applied his brakes, but they were spongy and couldn't stop his pickup truck, so he swerved out of the passing lane and across the driving lane to try and stop the trunk in a wooded embankment. Mieze's pickup hit the curb and was forced back into the road, where it struck a vehicle driven by Jill Ryan, of Country Club Apartments, Dallas, police said. Ryan's vehicle was forced into the rear of a vehicle driven by Lee A. Michael, of Country Village Park, Dallas, police said. Ryan, and a passenger in her vehicle, Tyler Ruan, were taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. The other drivers were unhurt. Investigating officer was Ptl.
