According to Dallas Township police, a 1983 Saab operated by John J. Kasmark, 19, of RR 1 Dallas was involved in a one-vehicle accident Thursday, August 13, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Lower Demunds Road. Police said that the Kasmark vehicle was traveling north on Lower Demunds Road near the East Dallas Church when it crossed into the southbound land, striking a bridge abutment. Kasmark stated to po- lice that he fell asleep at the wheel, according to the report. The car sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene, police said. Patrolmen Elliot Ide and Robert Jolley investigated the accident. MAILBOXES RUN OVER According to Dallas Township police, Louise Nulton, 34, of RR 2 Harveys Lake reported Monday, August 17, that three mailboxes had been destroyed by a vehicle running over them. Police also found that five newspaper delivery boxes had been destroyed in the same manner. Patrolman Wayman Miers investigated the incident. Dallas Borough THREE ARRESTED FOR THEFT FROM DRUG STORE According to Dallas Borough police, Nichole Marie Roberts, 22, of Kingston, Raymond Charles Martin, 17, of Kingston and James Youngblood, 31, of Wilkes-Barre were arrested and charged with retail theft and conspiracy. Police said that the trio removed $179.90 of feminine hygeine products which they did not pay for from the Rite-Aid drug store at the Dallas Village Shopping Center. When police appre- hended them at the Country Club Shopping Center, officers found two large garbage bags full of more feminine hygeine products, home - pregnancy tests and over-the-counter medications in their car, accord- ing to the report. The three suspects were arraigned before District ‘Magistrate Hopkins and lodged in the Luzerne County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail apiece. Police said that Youngblood also had a detainer placed against him by the Ashley police because of an additional outstanding warrant. Further charges are pending against the trio, police said. Patrolman Russell Devens, assisted by Dallas Township patrolmen Doug Higgins and Brian Feeney, investigated the incident. ARRESTED FOR D.U.lL According to Dallas Borough police, Benjamin Rowland Jones IV, 25, of Lake Harmony, was arrested Thursday, August 13, and charged with driving while under the influence. The charges stemmed from an incident in which police observed Jones driving erratically on Lake Street. After performing poorly on three field sobriety tests, Jones refused to take a blood alcohol test at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, police said. Jones was also cited for driving a vehicle without a registration card and driving under a suspended operator's license, police said. Patrolman William Norris investigated the incident. MAN ARRESTED WITH STOLEN BANK CARD According to Dallas Borough police, Edward Jenkins, 22, of RR 1 Sweet Valley was arrested Tuesday, August 11 and charged with theft by unlawful taking. Police said that Jenkins used a stolen Merchants Bank MAC card to obtain $50 from a Back Mountain cash machine. Police were alerted by the Pennsylvania State Police Wyoming Barracks that the card, reported missing by Samuel Kittle II of RR 1 Sweet Valley, was being used. Patrolman William Norris investigated the incident. Lehman Township ..MAN HOSPITALIZED AFTER MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ON HUNTSVILLE-IDETOWN ROAD Larry Dauksis of Elmcrest, Dallas, was involved in a one motorcycle accident on the Huntsville-Idetown Road, Sunday, August 16, at about 3 p.m. Diels was listed in critical condition at Scranton Community Medical Center, police said. The accident is still under investigation by Ptl. Benjamin Bigus. CHARGED WITH VIOLATING PROTECTION FROM ABUSE ORDER Klaus Paugsch, of Harveys Lake, was charged with violating a pro- tection from abuse order August 11, police said. According to police reports, Mary Ann Paugsch reported August 5 that she was asleep that evening and was awakened by being punched by Klaus Paugsch. Mary Anne Paugsch also reported that at about 11 p.m. August 4, Klaus Paugsch entered her home, snatched the tele- phone away from her and yelled at her, police reports said. Kingston Township CITED FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL VIOLATION Edward L. Copechal III, 21, of Wysox, was cited for a traffic light violation after a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 309 and Church Road August 14, police said. Copechal was driving his 1985 Subaru south on Route 309 at about noon when the car impacted with a truck driven by Robert Thomas Sayre, of Hunlock Creek, police said. Copechal said that the light had turned yellow as he drove through the intersection, but Sayre, and two other witnesses, said that Church Road had the green light. Investigating officer was Ptl. James F. Drury from Dallas Borough. MAN INJURED AFTER ONE VEHICLE ACCIDENT John Monaco Pasquale, 21, of Sweet Valley, was treated for injuries at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital after the pickup truck he was driving flipped over on Route 309 August 14, police said. Pasquale was driving north on Route 309 at about 11 a.m. and was attempting to pass a tractor trailer when he lost control of his 1981 Toyota pickup truck, police said. The pickup truck flipped onto its side. Investigation showed that the truck's body had been lifted 3 inches. The right rear body block that goes under the body had broken away, allowing the back corner to drop down and pulling the steering from its assembly. The truck was left with no steering, police said. Part of the original area zoned R-3 (high-density housing with multiple-family units), comprising all of Rice Street, Franklin Street to Hedge Ave. and lots on Huntsville Road between Rice and Davenport Streets, was rezoned R-2 (medium- density housing.) Several properties along Route 415 near Noon's, zoned residential under the new ordinance, will keep their present zoning of business. Side yard setbacks for R-2 (medium-density housing) were changed from 7-1/2 feet to ten feet.
