The group participated in a 13-week course of study led by Rev. H. James Shillabeer, pastor of the church. The Membership and Nurture Committee of the church hosted a breakfast for the confirmands and their families on the morning of the Confirmation Service and also presented each new member with a New Testament personally inscribed to commemorate the day. J Mrs. Emma Vogt of St. Mary's, PA announces the engagement of her daughter, Sharon, to Erik Santos, son of Prof. Rosendo and Rev. Harriet Santos, of Swoyersville. Miss Vogt is also the daugh- ter of the late James G. Vogt. Prof. Santos is Professor Emeritus at Wilkes University. Rev. Santos is a Pastor of the Shaverton United Methodist Church. Miss Vogt is a graduate of St. Mary's High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from Indiana University of PA. She has also studied for a Master's Degree at the University of Illinois. Currently she is employed at Ann Arbor, Michigan. Santos is a 1985 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School and was a participant in the Governor's School of Arts. He attended Indiana University of PA and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in music. He received a full fellowship at the University of Michigan where he earned a Masters of Music degree with an emphasis in composition and theory. Having received first prize in the BMI composition competition he is currently studying to complete a Doctor of Musical Arts degree with complete fellowship awarded to him by the University of Michigan. The wedding will be held at the Shavertown United Methodist Church on August 7, 1993.
