Born April 11, 1908, in Ply- mouth, he was the son of the late Florian and Mary Sajdak Bialo- gowicz. He resided at Harveys Lake for 46 years. He was a 1931 gradu- ate of Plymouth High School. He was a member of Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, Plymouth. He was the owner and operator of the Luzerne Wallpaper and Paint Store, Luzerne, for many years. He was past-president, fi- nancial secretary and a charter member of the Lions Club, Har- veys Lake. He also received the Pennsylvania Counselor Award in 1992. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Mangan; broth- ers, Albert, John, Joseph (Joby), Peter and Chester; sisters, Pauline Cislo, Frances Pyskaty and Rose Kennedy. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Helen Redinski; daughters, Mrs. Jean Klein, Long Beach, Calif. ; Mrs. Nancy Werhun, Lawrencev- ille, GA; Mrs. Patricia Watson, Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Edward, Plymouth; several nieces and nephews. WILLARD CORNELL Willard Cornell, 92, of Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, formerly of Meeker, died June 17, 1992 at the center. Born in Five Forks, Jackson Township, Sept. 22, 1899, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Evelyn Atherton Cornell. He had resided at Meeker for 67 years prior to moving to the Mead- ows Nursing Center, one year ago. He was a graduate of Harter High School, West Nanticoke and at- tended Bloomsburg Normal School. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Meeker for 65 years. He also ran a timber and sawmill business and an excavating and trucking business for many years, retiring three years ago. He was a member of Maple Grove , United Methodist Church, Pikes Creek. He was preceded in death by his y wife, the former Emma J. Naugle, June 3, 1991; sons, Ralph, Ken- neth and Harold; brother, Theo- dore; sister, Beatrice. Surviving are a son, Francis W. Swartwood, 89, of Overbrook Road, Dallas, died June 17, 1992, in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Oct. 7, 1902, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Thompson Swart- wood. He attended Wilkes-Barre area schools and graduated in 1920 from Coughlin High School. He attended Bucknell University and Penn State University. He began his mining career in 1923 as a surveyor at the Trues- dale Colliery of the Glen Alden Coal Co. Upon retiring from Glen Alden Corp., he became a mining engineer for the Pa. Department of Mines, retiring in 1972. He was a registered professional engineer and a senior member of the society of mining engineers (AIME). He also was a member of Shavertown United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth M. Morgan, Oct. 27, 1990; sisters, Ella Swart- wood, Laura Davis, Arvilla Bray and Helena Fahey.
