Over 700 members and atten- ders from eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware partici- ‘pated in sessions on peace and justice issues, long range plan- ning, and on “Hearing where the Words Come From: Finding Spiri- tual Unity within Our Diversity.” Young Friends attended special. programs including a visit to a shelter for homeless people. Herbert Quick is clerk of the local Friends Meeting. The group meet on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. for study and 11 a.m. for worship at the Wyoming Seminary Lower School, Wyoming Avenue in Forty Fort. Cookbooks were given to the grandmothers and mothers in memory of this special occasion. Women's Network names Pathfinder award winners The highest award of the Luzerne County Women’s Network is the Pathfinder-an award to those women who have “challenged the traditional assumptions of women’s roles in society.” The Pathfinder is a role model for other women by demonstrating outstanding qualities of dignity, initiative and endurance. The 1992 Pathfinder Nesbitt Hospital Festival in June 24 The Rural Branch of Nesbitt Memorial Hospital's Auxiliary has been busy making various hand- crafts to be sold at the annual June Festival slated for Wednesday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the grounds of the Medical Arts Building, 534 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston. Members of the Rural Branch work all year preparing handmade quilts of varying sizes, throw pillows, crocheted dolls, homemade canned jellies and mini soaps for this group’s biggest fundrais- ing effort. Proceeds from this event will enhance patient care at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital. Summer lectures on therapy at Misericordia The Occupational Therapy Department of College Misericor- dia will host a special “Summer OT Lecture Series” on five Saturdays in June and July, according to Gail Fidler, FAOTA, Misericordia’s scholar-in-residence. The series is scheduled for June in Merrick Hall. The intent of the series, accord- ing to Fidler, is to offer local and regional occupational therapists and other health care profession- als the opportunity to hear and meet some of the top leaders in occupational therapy. Environmental programs for youth at Frances Slocum The long awaited Youth Envi- ronmental Learning Series will be conducted throughout July at Frances Slocum Park in Carver- ton. These programs run for three days in which a multitude of envi- ronmental topics will be discussed.
