Eric Lehman was honored as the senior class valedictorian, and Keith McDonald as the sa- lutatorian. Lehman and McDonald were also commended by the National Merit Scholarship program along with Heather Mead and Geoffrey Spear. Seniors participating in J.E.T.S. Teams competition were Kristen Gurdin, Berit Case, Jessica Wallace, and Sherri Conrad, along with McDonald, Lehman and Spear. McDonald was also awarded the Lions Book Scholarship, the Dallas Soccer Club Book Schol- arship and was nominated for the Principals Leadership Award. McDonald and Lehman were honored for having a 4.0 aver- age, and will be the recipients of LB Dallas Area Federated “NVomen's Club Scholarships. Eric Williams will receive a George Washington University Presidential Honor Scholarship and participate in the Century III Leaders Program. Al TUILL UNICE, : Back Mountain girls win vocal ‘awards in White Haven contest Amber Posatko and Jill Unice, ,' both students in the Lake-Lehman District, recently won al the Mountain Laurel Resort in White Haven. Amber, daughter of Attorney and Mrs. Posatko of Lehman, took the 2nd place award for solo vocal in the 10-12 year old category. Posatko studies voice - with Gina Major. Jill Unice took the 2nd place ' vocal solo award in the 13-15 year § category. Gina Major, Lake-Lehman graduate and former Miss Penn- sylvania, operates a full perform- ing arts center in Pittston, and an additional vocal studio in Wilkes- Barre. The non-profit “NE PAYouth Chorus” is currently reorganizing for a '92 performance schedule including stage shows on June 26 and 27, performance May 23 at The Kirby Center, plus additional festivals and community shows through the Summer and Fall seasons. Secretaries establish scholarship at LCCC The Wyoming Valley Chapter of Professional Secretaries Interna- tional (PSI) recently established a $200 tuition scholarship at Luzerne County Community Col- lege. The scholarship will be awarded for the 1992-93 academic year, and is designed to financially as- sist the continuing education ofan individual who is currently em- ployed full or part-time within the secretarial profession; wishes to re-enter the profession; or to a senior high school, business ma- jor, entering the Office Technology Program at LCCC. Applications for the PSI Office Technology Scholarship are now being accepted from current Office Technology Program students at LCCC registering as sophomores. WWDL-FM Conference day for L-L parents Parent Conference Day for stu- dents of the Lake-Lehman School District attending Chapter I Reme- dial Reading and Math Classes are scheduled for Friday, May 29. Teachers will send notices home designating a time when each parent may come in to discuss the results of their child's individual testing and the progress they made this year. Parents are requested to detach the bottom of their notice and return it to the Chapter I Teacher, indicating whether they are able to attend at their sched- uled time. Those parents who are unable to attend at their sched- uled time are to list the day and time when they are available. They will then be contacted by the Chapter I Teacher. Parent Advisory Council mem- bers will be in the lobby of the school todirect the parents to their child's room. Esteem program offered for teens Donna Scartelli, Director of Youth Retreats at Fatima Renewal Center, announces an “Up and Over” weekend program for 7th and 8th grade students to help them improve their self-esteem and become better equipped to work through or get “over” situations they find difficult. The dates are May 29 to May 31. The weekend includes activi- ties, movies, prayer services, and an outdoor obstacle course.
