Williames, a senior at the University of Scranton, has re- ceived the United States Air Force Health Professions Scholarship. He will use his scholarship to study for the Doctor of Medicine degree at the Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, DC beginning in August 1922. Willlames was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force ata private ceremony in the Scran- ton Estate at the University of Scranton. He is a graduate of Dallas High School and an Eagle Scout from Troop 232, Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Willliames is the son of Lee and Frances Williames of Carverton Road, Trucksville. Wilkes to host concert competition on April 6 The Third Annual Concerto Competition for High School and Junior High School Students spon- sored by the Wilkes University De- partment of Music, Theater, and Dance, will be held Monday, April 6, beginning at 6 p.m. The compe- tition is open toall musicians under the age of nineteen who have not yet matriculated at a university. Participants are expected to per- form a movement of a concerto from memory; all participants must bring theirown accompanists. The winner or winners of the competi- tion will appear as soloists with the Wilkes University Orchestra during their Spring concert on Sunday, May 3, 1992, at 3:15 p.m. in the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts. Carol Kelly wins Keystone scholarship Carol of Kelly of Lehman was awarded one of Keystone Junior College's first-ever scholarship for . its Early Intervention Paraprofes- sional Training Program. Funded by a grant from the U.S. Depart- ment of Education /Office of Spe- cial Education & Rehabilitative Services, Early Intervention is a new emphasis in the Early Child- hood Education major at Keystone. Seminary scholarship test April 4 is the final test date for middle school students to qualify for the Wyoming Seminary Lower School Merit Scholarships. The school will award two - $1500 merit scholarships to new students en- tering the Middle School division, grades 5 through 8. Deadline for applications is Thursday, April 2. Bishop O'Reilly students win business leadership awards Several members of Bishop O'Reilly High School, Kingston, Chapter of the Future Business Lead- ers of America (FBLA) won awards at the recent regional leadership conference held at James M. The dentist comes to Mrs. Callahan's kindergarten class Mrs. Callahan’s Kindergarten classes at the Dallas Elementary School noted February as Dental Health Month. The classes worked on several projects including a Dental Health Booklet that the children constructed based on discussions of the theme. They created fingerpaintings depicting “Smiles”, and they colored pictures which emphasized good dental health habits. The A.M. class concluded their studies with a visit from one student's father, a dentist.
