Dallas Twp., and Borough can recycle their motor oil The Dallas Area Municipal Au- thority, (DAMA) has begun a used motor oil recycling program for residents in Dallas Borough, Dal- las Township and Kingston Town- ship. Larry Spaciano, DAMA rep- resentative, said if all the used motor oil in the U.S. were recycled, 1.3 million barrels of oil per day could be saved. Six Back Mountain automotive service centers are participating in the motor oil recycling program which is free of charge to residents of the three affected municipali- ties. They include: L.L. Richardson, Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Dallas Exxon, Dallas, 675-3336, Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sat., 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Schmids Amoco, Shavertown, 675- 2209, 7 days/week 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; Alan Dukes Garage, Trucksville, 696-4848, Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Finish Line Quick Lube, Dallas, 675-6464, Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-5p.m.; Back Mountain Trans- mission, Dallas, 675-1504, Mon.- Fri., 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Certain conditions are contained in the DAMA used motor oil recy- cling program. The oil should be contained in a clear HDPE (plastic) water jug because it can reveal impurities. Jugs are available at the DAMA office for the used motor oil program. Deposits to the reey- cling centers listed above are lim- ited to 5 gallons per visit and you must take the empty container(s) with you when finished. The recycling jug must not contain anything other than mo- tor oil. to insure this, the depositor must sign a log confirming that only used motor oil is in the “container(s) being presented. Fail- ure to sign the log will result in refusal of the oil for recycling pur- poses. The DAMA Motor Oil Recycling number to call for more informa- tion on this or other DAMA recy- cling programs is: 696-1134. Spaciano says re-refining used motor oil takes only about one- third the energy required to refine crude oil to lubricant quay. Another expression of this save 45 is the fact that only one gallon of used oil is necessary in the recy- cling process to make the 2.5 quarts of lubricating oil it takes 42 gallons of crude to produce. All recycled oil in the DAMA program is ultimately collected by Safety Kleen Corporation, Hanover Industrial Park to be recycle for future use.
