Born in Chase, he was the son of the late Russell W. and Florence Danks Frantz. He was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and Dart- mouth College, Class of 1941. He was a Navy veteran of World War, serving as a pilot for five years in the Pacific Theater. He was owner and operator of Motor Twins Inc. automobile deal- ership in Wilkes-Barre and King- ston, retiring in 1986. He served as president of the Wyoming Valley Automobile Deal- ers Association, president of the Pennsylvania Automotive Dealers Association, and served as East- ern Pennsylvania director of the National Automobile Dealers As- sociation. He was also a member of the board of directors of First Eastern Bank, N.A., Wilkes-Barre and was a member of the Westmoreland and North Mountain clubs. He served on the boards of the Lake-Lehman School District and the Back Mountain Memorial Li- brary. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Mary Atherton; son, Richard C., Rye, N.H.; daughter, Melanie F. Harwood, Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren. She was graduate of Edwardsville High School and attended Bloomsburg University. She was a volunteer and former swimming instructor at the Wilkes- Barre YWCA, and was an avid golfer. She resided in Dallas since 1954, and was a member of the Dr. Edwards Memorial Congregational Church, Edwardsville.
