Newly-elected school director Edwin Kern was installed along with re-elected directors Thomas Williams, Dr. John Presper, Eliza- beth Sichler, and Jeffrey Fritzen. They were sworn in by Luzerne County Judge Hugh Mundy. Sichler was elected president of the board, Martin Mahon first vice- president, and Kenneth Williams second vice-president. Committee chairpersons chosen are: Joseph “Red” Jones, athletics and activities; Thomas Williams, buildings and grounds; Dr. Pre- sper, curriculum and instruction; Fritzen, finance; Kern, transporta- tion. Sichler and Mildred Dobash will be the representatives to the Penn- sylvania School Boards Associa- tion. Thomas Williams will be the representative to the West Side Area Vocational-Technical School, with Mahon as an alternate. Presper will represent the dis- trict on the Back Mountain Memo- rial Library Board. Regular meetings will remain on the second Tuesday of the month at 8 p.m., with a committee-of-the- whole meeting at 7 p.m. The place will be announced at the end of the preceding meeting. There will also be committee-of-the-whole meet- ings on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the board room of the Lehman-Jackson Ele- mentary School.
