Dr. Fred Stefon visited Lake-Lehman'’s 11th grade American Studies class to teach the students about the significance of the voyage of Columbus and the Europeans who followed. Dr. Ste- fon is an assistant Professor of History at Penn State. He has a background in European History, but his work now centers around anthropology, oral and archival history, and educational policy, specifically Indian education. Dr. Stefon spoke to the class about the true place of Native Americans in American Historyand how they were often cheated out of it by the invading white man.-He also told the students of many. injustices wrought by the Europe- ! ans upon the Indians. i The lecture is one in a series of lectures for the American Studies class. The seminar began with a- seminar attended by the students. at Penn State University, Lehman’ campus. The seminar was given by Dr. John Grim, Professor of Relig-. ion at Bucknell. More events ‘are’ planned for the class, including a- trip in the fall to Bucknell Univer-. sity to attend another lecture.
