Wyoming Valley families will ~ gather at the F.M. Kirby Center for . the Performing Arts on November 17 for selection of the Family Serv- ice Association's “Family of the Year" awards. The first annual awards, spon- - sored by the association, are de- ~ signed todemonstrate the strength + and vitality of the family unit in the valley. Five local families will re- ~ ceive awards. The awards will not be restricted to the traditional family unit. They will go to any “1991 has been designated by President George Bush as the year of the family,” said Teddi Berlat- sky, executive director of the Family Service Association. “The recipi- ents of this award, as well as all those nominated, are testimony to the strength of the family unit in Wyoming Valley.” Nominations will be accepted for the awards. All nomintation will be screened "Family of the Year' to be recognized and reviewed by a seven member committee of judges. The judges are: the Honorable Chester B.
