He attended St. Nicholas High School and was an officer in the Merchant Marines. He was em- ployed as chief inspector by Air Products, Hanover Township. He was owner and operator of W.J. Hicks Painting Contractors and Village Variety Store, Wilkes- Barre. He was a member of St. Boniface Church, Wilkes-Barre. He and his wife, the former Shirley Shaver, celebrated their 41st weddinganniversasryon April 1. 1991. Hislop, 71, of Huntsville Road, Dallas, died Sept. 6, 1991 at the Leader East Nursing Home, Kingston, where she had been a patient for the past four months. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ethel A. Hazeltine Hughey. She resided in the Back Mountain area most of her life and was a graduate of Kingston Township High School. Interment, Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton. JOSEPH MAJEWSKI Joseph R. Majewski, 35, of Hendrick Street, Ambler, died Sept. 7, 1991 at the University of Penn- sylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Monterey, Calif., he was the son of Bertha Hall Majewski and the late Lawrence Majewski. He was a 1974 graduate of Dallas High School and a 1980 graduate of West Chester State College. He was a member of the Na- tional Biathalon Team for three years. In June, 1974, he enlisted in the 109th Field Artillery, Bat- tery C, and later enrolled in the officer's candidate school from which - he graduated and was commissioned a second lieuten- ant on May 23, 1976. He was pro- moted to captain in September, 1985, and became the commander of Battery C., Wilkes-Barre. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Karen Raineri, Nanticoke; daugh- ter, Kaeley Jo; stepdaughter, Erica; stepson, Ryan; brothers, John, Reading; James, Newtown; sister, Mrs. Larry (Laura) Kiwak, Sweet Valley; three nieces.
