Shavertown UMC begins new education program “Adventures in Faith” a newly created Christian Education pro- gram, will be launched on Sunday, Sept. 15, at The Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 N. Pioneer ~ Aveaue, Shavertown. The program will begin with registration at 9:45a.m. Pre-school and elementary children through grade 5 will be guided to their classrooms with parents for en- rollment and orientation. Youth from grades 6 through 12 and adults will register in the Social Room, “Open House” tours of the refurbished educational facilities will be conducted. Refreshments will be served. The public is wel- come. Regular classes begin at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. Open Registrations will be at the Luzerne County Fall Fair Grounds on Route 118 in the Back Mountain on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. with a “Wide-Game" demonstration of Girl Scout Fun. (There will be a small charge for participation in some of these activities.) Back Mountain Jaycees to sponsor fair stand The Back Mountain Junior Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Western Round-Up Stand at this year’s Annual Luzerne County Fall Fair being held September 4 through September 8, at the fairgrounds located off Route 118 in Lehman. Back Mountain Jaycees Jonathon Brock, event chairperson and Theresa Vrotkoski, event co-chairperson, said the Jaycees will be serving Western Rib Ticklers, Meatball Subs, Curly Fries and hot and cold refreshments. All proceeds received from the event will benefit the Back Mountain - Junior Chamber of Commerce Community Fund which is used to. continue the Jaycees work to make the community a better place to live and work. 29 Center Flower club meets in Dallas The West Side Flower Club executive board met recently at the home of President Marion Kunigonis, Reservoir Road, Dal- las. President Kunigonis enter- tained board members following the meeting. Present were Leonard and Mary Domanosky, Annette and David Reese, Ann Buczkow- ski, Marion Frantz, Irene Yasenchak, Mary Chollak, Made- lon Steinhauer and Julie Roma- noski. - It was announced that a book will be donated to the Hoyt Library in memory of deceased member Louise Opsitos. In addition to appointing a by- laws committee and a nominating committee, the board reviewed activities for the remainder of the year. At the September 10 meeting, dahlias and vegetables will be displayed and judged. The meet- ing will start at 7 p.m. at the Church of Christ Uniting, King- ston. There will be a reading and discussion of the by-laws. A White Elephant Sale will be held before the meeting. Election of officers for 1992 will be held at the October meeting. The agenda will include an exhibit of all varieties of Fall flowers. There will be a trip to Vanity Fair, Reading on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Reservations may be made at the September and October meet- Ings or by calling Marion Kunig- nis. The annual Arts and Crafts Show will be held at the meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12. A Christmas dinner show will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Knights of Colum- bus, Luzerne. President Kunig- onis reminds members to present their membership cards when obtaining tickets for any of the club's special activities. Irem Women will meet Sept. 12.
