2 The Dallas Post Back Mountain Library Auction Section2 Wednesday, July 3, 1991 took over the leadership of the new goods committee for this year's Library Auction. They are shown above with a few of the hundreds of items that will be on sale. Frank and Carol Zeske are new to the goods committee Frank Zeske and his wife Carol of Franklin Township are co-chair- persons of the New Goods Com- mittee for this year’s Library Auc- tion, and like the New Goods they are new. - Neither of them have ever been involved with the auction before nor do they come from families who were once involved with the auction. Both are more than co- chairpersons of the New Goods Committee—they are the commit- tee. As a husband and wife team, Frank and Carol have done their own planning, organizing, solicit- ing new goods items, loading and unloading many of them as well as tagging them. “Monte sold us on the chair- manship so rather than let him down we decided since we knew nothing about the task, we would justdo it our way,” said Carol. And doing it their way has been suc- cessful for themin picking up some great new items to go over the block. As was done last year, the New Goods chairpersons are going to have timed items auctioned off Friday, July 5, at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 6, at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Among some or tne outstanding items contributed to.the auction area gas grill, handcrafted yard swing, man’s $300 watch, a bi- cycle, and an amethyst diamond ring. There are also a large variety of gift certificates, dinner certifi- cates, new clothes, paintings, motor oil, and other beautiful items too numerous to mention. “It's a big job,” said Frank and Carol. “The business people are very cooperative but it takes a lot of time. Volunteers are scarce. It takes more time trying to get people to say they will help so it’s been easier doing it ourselves. It's been work but it has been interesting.” Text and Photos by Charlot M. Denmon [1 di On the cover The Back Mountain Library Auction will showcase thousands of bargains from July 3-7. Volunteers are the heart of the event; shown at top left, Leslie Horoshko of Dallas paints an antique cupboard. She spruces up, decorates and stencils furniture pieces each year. At bottom right, Ernest Ashbridge, who chairs the antiques committee, also helped on the auction block last year.
