African art on display at MacDonald Gallery The vivid African paintings and sculpture of New York artist Victor Mullen have opened the s summer seasson at the MacDonald Art Gallery at College Misericordia. In this colorful exhibition, entitled “Paintings and Walking Sticks,” Mullen combines the African symbolism of stability, strength, and ceremonial objects of the Zulu Nation. The pieces are a mixed media series of Zulu shields, witchdoctors, masks and walking sticks made of wood, barbed wire and other materials. Mullen, a graduate of Coughlin High School, currently works in the northern Catskills, New York.
