Contents of this special section were provided by the candidates. Hugh Mundy Hugh Mundy is a graduate of King's College and Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was deco- rated with the Air Medal with two gold stars, the Navy Commenda- tion Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars and the National Defense Service Medal. After the Navy, Mundy attended the University of Notre Dame Law School where he was awarded the Reginald Heber Smith Fellowship and graduated with the degree of Juris Doctor. He has 21 years of courtroom experience, trying in excess of 50 cases to verdict before juries. He is the founder of Luzerne County Legal Services where he directed a staff which provided a full range of services including litigation. He then served as assistant district attorney successfully prosecuting drug dealers and por- nographers. He is a founding partner of his law firm which specializes in court- room litigation. _ During this time Mundy has served on the boards of many charitable organizations including the Boy Scouts, Housing for the Elderly, and the Commission on Economic Opportunity. He is a founding member of the Back Mountain Youth Soccer Associa- tion and has been a Little League baseball coach and umpire. Married for 22 years to Rita Ryan Mundy, they have two children: Maura, a senior at King's College and Hugh, a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame. At the time of Judge Podcasy's retirement last November Hugh was recommended for judge by the non-partisan judicial selection committee and was nominated to fill that position by the Governor. John E. O'Connor Atty. John E. O'Connor, mar- ried to Mary E. O'Connor, is the father of seven children. Evelyn Albert Evelyn Hirko Albert is a native of Luzerne County, born in Plains, and educated locally. Albert is currently employed by Children’s Service Center as a Family Thera- pist. \ Albert graduated summa cum laude from King's College with a B.A. in Philosophy and a minor in Business. She was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Psychol- ogy from the Naropa Institute-in Boulder, Colorado. Albert has extensive manage- ment and organizational experi- ence. As co-owner of Luzerne Optical Company, she helped to expand this manufacturing com- pany to a five state market area. As an organizational developer, she founded and managed a variety of retail operations, including Essex Shops Furniture, the Play Room Toy Store, and the Hoagie Shop. She also managed the local Planned Parenthood facility. In recent years, Albert's man- agement skills ‘have benefited community - organizations. She coordinated the Trade Show for the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce Business and Industry Committeein 1988 and 1989. Asa member of the Luzerne County Women’s Network, she served as coordinator for the Women's Con- ference of 1987 and 1988. She was a member and the President of the ! ‘Board of Directors of the Victims’ Resource Center. Albert is a 1989 graduate of Leadership Wilkes- Barre and a founding member of the Luzerne County Commission for Women. Albert and her husband, George have three children. Christine works and resides in Madison, New Jersey; George, Jr. is a senior engineering student at Lehigh University; Malka is a political science major at Moravian College. He is owner and operator of the Frank P. Crossin Agency, Inc. Crossin was appointed County Commissioner January 28, 1981 to complete the unexpired term of his late father. He is past chair- man of the Luzerne County Insti- tution District; presently he is Chairman of the Luzerne County Board of Commissioners; member of Joint Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Airport Board; member of Luzerne County Prison Board.
