The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, March 27, 1991 COMMUNITY Nesbitt Hospital Run/Walk scheduled for April 13 The Ninth Annual Five Mile Run/ Walk, sponsored by Nesbitt Me- morial Hospital, is slated for Sat- urday, April 13. Start time for walkers will be 9:30 a.m., with registration from 8:15a.m. t09:15 a.m. Runners and wheelchair participants will begin their race at 10 a.m. and may register from 8:30a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Registration will be conducted in the Medical Arts Building auditorium, 534 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston. A free Children’s Fun Run will also be conducted at 10:10 a.m. Registration will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and a parent or guardian must accompany the child. Trophies will be awarded to first overall male and female finishers in both the walking and running categories, first, second and third wheelchair participants, and first male and female Nesbitt Memorial Hospital employee in both catego- ries. Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place win- ners in each age category, and each child who participates in the Fun Run will receive a ribbon. Overall winners will not receive medals in addition to their tro- phies. Race applications will be avail- able in the hospital lobby begin- ning Wednesday, March 20. Commonwealth ads honored for excellence Advertising materials created for Commonwealth Long Distance received two advertising awards at the annual Addy Awards Dinner held by the Northeast Pennsylva- nia Ad Club, March 15. A direct mail campaign intro- ducing Commonwealth Long Dis- tance to the market won a trophy and a series of three Equal Access bill stuffers won a Citation of Ex- cellence. The direct mail campaign went on towin the only award ints category from District II of the American Advertising Federation. District-II comprises advertising agencies and organizations in New York, NewdJersey, Delaware, Wash- ington, D.C., Maryland and Penn- sylvania. The advertising materials for the Dallas-based long distance com- pany were created by The Lavelle- Miller Group, a Scranton-based advertising agency. All totaled, The Lavelle-Miller Group received 31 awards presented this year. Judges for the Addy Awards were recruited from advertising agen- cies in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and New York. Commonwealth Long Distance, a subsidiary of C-TEC Corporation of Wilkes-Barre, provides long distance service to some 20 coun- ties in Pennsylvania. Delo- ris Selinsky and Beatrice Roma- nowski of Shavertown, and Marie Stolarick and Barbara J. Vivian, of Dallas, are among the 24 writers from throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania whose short stories and poetry are featured in the 100- page publication. Ms. Selinsky has written a short story for the collection, entitled “The Tree”. It tells the tale of an easy-going retired gentleman who is tormented by his domineering spouse. Most of her writing takes the form of poetry, as she has had over 600 poems published, includ- ing 3 chapbooks of poetry. “Reflec- tions on a Lopsided World,” “Thoughts in Shadow,” and “Frag- ments of Yesterday and Now.” She is vice-president of the Wyoming Valley Poetry Society and is listed in “A Directory of American Poets and Fiction Writers.” Beatrice Romanowski has con- . tributed a poem entitled “National Cemetery, Pinelawn, Long Island, New York”. She has had poetry published by “World of Poetry Press; The Senior Citizen Chris- tian Newsletter,” and other publi- cations. She is a former president of the Wyoming Valley Poetry Soci- ety.
