DENMON Staff Writer : William Roberts of Franklin Street, Dallas, has announced that ‘he is a candidate for the Dallas Borough Council on the Republi- can ticket. Roberts, a native of the Back Mountain, has resided in Dallas for the past 30 years. He is a graduate of Dallas High School and King's College and is a member of the faculty in the Dallas School District. Machell, Shafferand Brobst have said they are not seeking re- election. an recovering from smoke inhalation By RICH JOHNSON Staff Writer A Jackson Township fireman is out of the hospital after suffering . problems from smoke inhalation while fighting a fire last week. Dave Nemetz was hospitalized and treated for smoke inhalation while battling the blaze which destroyed a summer home near the Ceasetown Dam March 6. According toJackson Township Fire Chief Rolly Evans, the blaze ES Hospital Auxiliary to host spring card party occurred at a one-story cottage owned by Al Nehme. Evans said that when fire crews arrived at the scene the front porch of the build- ing was fully involved in flames. Fire fighters from Jackson Township, Trucksville and Lake Silkworth eventually brought the blaze under control. Evans said that Nemetz was fighting the fire when he was over- come by smoke and taken to the hospital by Jackson Township Ambulance personnel. Wilkes-Barre General Hospital's Auxiliary will host its annual “Card Party” on Monday, April 22 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre. The featured attractions at the party will be a white elephant sale, jewelry sale, bake sale, and arts and crafts boutique. Refresh- ments will also be served. The traditional prize drawing will be held again this year: First prize, $1,000; second prize, $500; third prize, trip to New York City to see Andrew Lloyd Weber's Phantom of the Opera compliments of Martz Trailways; fourth prize, $100 gift certificate to Insalaco’s. In addition, a separate drawing will be held for “A Taste of Italy,” a wicker basket filled with assorted Italian specialties, including imported pastas, cheeses, meats, olive oil and snacks.
