DENMON Staff Writer Ten Rollaway Club members taught by Pro Stephanie Vida trav- eled to the Skateaway in Reading recently where five of the members placed in competition. J.B. Bucha took first in Boys Primary Figures and also won in regional competition to qualify for Nationals. Kirby Richards also took first in Junior Olympic Figures and skated in freestyle competi- tion. Danny Rogers placed fourth in Elementary freestyle and Jennifer Moss in Junior Olympic Figures. Mindy Belles placed eighth in Junior Ladies Figures. Club members will compete next in Olympic at Harrisburg. Officers of the club are presi- dent, Stephanie Vida, pro; vice president, Linda Richards; secre- tary, Rebecca Kerr and treasurer, Carol Rogers. Dallas boys’ second-half record By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Writer After losing only once in the first half of the season, the Dallas boys cagers dropped two of three games last week to even their second-half record at 3 and 3. The Mounts avere beaten by Wyoming Semi- \: and Seton Catholic, teams they defeated in the first half with no evident difficulty. 3. The Mountaineers lost 65-64 to Bon Catholic Saturday night on ‘their home court. Seton's Dan Noone scored a game high 30 points, including eight three-point- ers. Damon Lisnow hit 14 points for the Mountaineers, Mark Medura tossed in 13 and Dave Puzand Ray Russin each scored 12 in the los- ing effort. The Mountaineers defeated Lake-Lehman 65-49 Thursday night paced by Lisnow’s 26 points. Medura added 16 points for the Mountaineers, one of his goals a three-pointer. Rick Davis paced the Knights with 20 points, inlcuding a three- pointer and Tony Strauser added 14 points for the Knights. Russin and Lisnow combined ¥alls to 3-3 after two losses for 51 points in Tuesday night's game with Wyoming Seminary on the Blue Knights floor, but double figure scoring by four of the Blue Knights for a total of 61 points which was a key factor in their going ahead in the final quarter to edge out the Mountaineers 69-67 for the win. Lisnow hit 29 points in the game putting in 14 goals from the field and going one-for-two from the foul line. Russin scored 22 points, six of them on three-pointers. This week Dallas was to travel to Bishop Hafey Tuesday and host West Side Tech Friday night. Black Knights lose to Mounts 65-49 By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Writer Lake-Lehman'’s Black Knights glropped to 1-5 in the second half a week by losing 65-49 to the allas Mountaineers Thursday night. Rich Davis was s high scorer for the Knights with 20 points, put- ting the ball through the nets seven times from the field, one a three- pointer and going five-for-eight from the free throw stripe. Troy Strauser added 14 points, eight Baseball clinics lasted at It’s spring training time, and to - help baseball players tune up fora Wilkes Ba season, the Penn State ilkes- Barre Campus will hold its third annual baseball clinic for girls and boys on two Saturdays, March 2 and 9, at the Dallas Jun- ior High School. Two sessions will be held on March 2 - a half-day clinic for six to nineyear old players, from 11a.m. to 2 p.m., with a fee of $15.00; and an all day clinic for 10 to 12 year old players from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a fee of $30.00. The March 9 clinic is for teeners and high school players from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fee is $30.00. Coaches who will instruct the clinics include: Tom Wasilewski, former professional baseball player; Bob Duliba, former head coach at Wilkes University and former professional baseball player; Frank Galicki, catcher and principal of Dallas High School; Chip Sorber, head baseball coach at Penn State Wilkes-Barre; Dr. Mike Mould, athletic director at College Misericordia and former athletic director and head baseball coach at Keystone Junior College; Jack Wolensky, head coach at Dallas High School; and Andy Barlow, former assistant general manager of the Jamestown Expos professional baseball team. The participants will get help with pitching, target throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and bunting, and base running and sliding. Players are asked to bring their own bats and gloves clearly from thefield and six-for-eight from the charity stripe. Bob Jones gave the Knights five points, one of the goals a three-pointer. Earlier in the week, the Knights dropped a 62-51 game to Bishop O'Reilly after holding the Queens- men to nine points in the first quarter. The Queensmen rallied in the second period and scored 22 points to tie the game at 31-31 at the end of the first half. They came out strong in the second half and held the Knights to only 20 points while marked with their names. Those attending the all day clinic should bring a bag lunch. Enrollment is limited and early they matched their first half scor- ing with 31 points. Bill Mudlock hit for 24 points for O'Reilly, four of his shots three- pointers and Al Finarelli added 18, six shots through the nets from the field and going six-for-10 from the foulline. Matt Balberchak went two-for-three and dumped in four shots through the nets from the field for 10 points. This week the Knights were scheduled to play Seton Catholic away Tuesday and host Meyers at home Friday night. Penn State registration is recommended. Hitting the double figures column for the Lady Mountaineers were Diane Demko and Kathy Welkey, each with 15 points. Seton Catholic downs Lake-Lehman 69-49 Shelly Lyons led Seton Catholic to a 69-49 win Monday night over the Lady Knights which kept them in the race for first place in the second half of Division II. Alyson Davis and Jennifer Smith kept the Knights close in the first half, each scoring eight points to bring the score to 27-23 at halftime. In the second half the Eagles pulled in front as their biggest lead hit 14 points, going 10-for-10 from the foul line. Davis led the Lady Knights with 13 points tossing in four from the floor and going five-for-seven from the free throw stripe. Smith put in 11, one-for-two from the line and Heidi Wenrich scored 10, two from the field and two-for-five from the foul line. Lady Mounts lose to Lady Knights Thursday night the Dallas girls lost 70-31 to Lake-Lehman whose Alyson Davis and Jennifer Smith each scored 18 points to lead the Black Knights. The Lady Knights went ahead early in the game outscoring Dallas 31- 22 by halftime. In the third period they outscored the Dallas girls 26 to 2 to take a 57-24 lead then continued to outscore Dallas 13-7 in the final period. Heidi Wenrich added 14 points to the Lehman score, putting the ball through the nets for 12 points from the field and going 2-for-2 from the foul line. Davis and Smith had identical scores, each tossing in eight shots from the field and having a perfect 2-for-2 from the free line. Wendy Cave was the lone Dallas player to hit double figures with 11. Kathy Welkey added eight points and Tara Lisnow put in six. The Noxen Strikers wrestled tough this weekend, traveling to two tournaments in two days.
