He isa 1990 gaduate of Dalag Jean Elliott Fader has illustrations published Jean Elliott Fader, a Dallas native, recently had her pencil sketches of the Catskills published in “Deep Woods”; a collection John Burroughs’ selected essays from 11871 to 1912. “Deep Woods” is the seventh volume in Peregrine Smith's Liter- ary Naturalists Series which rein- troduces the writings of noted authors who have selected mature writing as literary expression. Most of Burroughs’ essays are written in the settings of upstate New York and it includes descriptions of Maine, Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Yakutat Bay, Alaska. To begin hér, sketches, Fader visited up- state New York and studied the areas which Burroughs wrote about. Fader’s talent surfaced at East Providence Junior and Senior High Schools, Rhode Island, where she studied art, along with a college preparatory program, with teach- ers who were graduates of the Rhode Island School of Design. While attending Brown University, Rhode Island, she took electives in art studio and art history. Cur- rently, she studies art with Sue Hand, a local artist who recently published her first book. Hand and Fader recently spoke to the group of Cider Painters of America, to explain how they developed their projects for publication. Fader’'s part time hobby has transpired into an artist's dream. In addition to her published pencil sketchings, her water color, Win- ter Harbor, Annapolis, recently received the General Excellence award at the Cider Painters of America’s 8th Annual Member Exhibit. The exhibit was at the Art Gallery at the Hefft House, Shaver- town, and there were 70 exhibiters from the Eastern United States who displayed their work. She has attended lectures and workshops sponsored by the Wyoming Art League, including workshops with nationally known water colorists Bruce Johnson, Barbara Nechis and Joan Rother- mel. She is a member of the Wyo- ming Valley Art League and Cider Painters of America. Besides being a part time artist, Fader is a litiga- - tion paralegal for the regional law firm of Hourigan, Kluger, Spohrer & Quinn, P.C. She resides in Dal- las with her husband Gordon and two children. & “Deep Woods" is available 4 sale at Back Mountain Books, Country Club Shopping Center, Dallas.
